You, Me, and...Him?
Getting home early was normally an option Zachariah never had. Many of the farmers had him working from sun up to sun down, and when he worked at the grocery store on the weekends, they needed him for the afternoon shifts. Meaning he very rarely go home before six or seven o'clock. But today he'd gotten lucky. Mr. Davidson and his wife were going on vacation and had told Zach that once he was done bailing hay, he was free to go. So, the young man took his time finishing his work, said goodbye to the couple and headed into town for a bouquet of flowers for Olivia. They weren't anything too fancy, but he hoped they'd be enough. After their miniature... Argument, he supposed it could be called, there'd been a change between them that he was not a fan of. Hopefully though, coming home early to spend the rest of the afternoon with her would fix things. As three o'clock rolled around, Zach entered the Palmer house. The flowers in his hand were tucked behind his back in an attempt to keep them hidden from view. Heading into the kitchen, he could hear voices, though only one sounded familiar. Steps faltered for only a moment before he continued, stepping through the archway and into the kitchen. Olivia was seated at the table, next to her was a man Zach couldn't say he'd ever been introduced to or even seen. Looking between them, he could tell they were too caught up in one another to even notice him. He took a step forward, clearing his throat as he did so. "Uh, hey," he spoke up. Whoever this guy was, he brought with him a feeling Zach wasn't sure he'd ever experienced before. But that didn't matter, because he already knew what it was called. Jealousy.
