Blackpink fans are so divided. They're always arguing on who's the true "visual" who's the best rapper, singer etc. even on the youtube comments all you see is "(insert member here) stans where you at?!" They seem immature

Raising a Geekling
TLDR; when YOU were a young fan (or just new to fandom in general), just delving into the worlds of fandom, fan fiction, etc. what would you have liked to have known?
Were there any things you were not expecting? Was there anything you would have liked to been prepared for (aside from troll commenters, lack of comments, and general pettiness in fandom?)
My 11-year-old daughter has discovered fanfiction.
Seeing that she already makes amazing art, and if she decides to write fanfiction, it’d easily help her practice her writing skills, I’m of course all for this.
Trying to figure out how to keep her safe online is a concern.
At this point, all I can do is point her to AO3, warn her that there’s a bunch of stuff tagged with adult content and trust that I’ve taught her well enough to know right from wrong and to be open enough to talk with her.
I don’t believe in putting browser restrictions on; we’ve always let her roam with an eye on what she’s doing. She never would have discovered her passion for art and animation if I had curated her interests for her; I don’t see the point in starting now.
But as a fanfic writer who also writes (and enjoys the HELL OUT OF) smut, I also know that there’s a shit ton out there and it’s not always tagged. Please, please, please reblog if you have answers! I’d love to see what people think.
I haven’t even read these books, but watching my kid fall head-first into discworld fandom is super super awesome
