I have determined I do not hate children.
Anyone who knows me well is thinking "wtf amber? You have hated kids your whole life?? You talk about it constantly."
Yea well I figured out its not the kids I hate. Its the way they have been raised. Parents these days tend to treat their children like they are benieth them. Like they are just my "cute lil baby" until they can take care of themselves. Giving them their every whim, letting them act out, be loud, and talking to them and punishing them like they are children.
"But Amber! They ARE children!"
Being a child is hard. From the ages of birth-6y/o people talk to you in a silly accent, hold you, feed you, give you anything you want, spoil you, and then act like its a huge surprise when you act out for not getting what you want. From 6-16 you are told incessantly what to do: go to school, be quiet, stay in line, get good grades, eat your shit lunch, participate, stand up, sit down, read this not that, go home, come back. Nobody treats you like an adult. Rarely with respect.
I have determined that the outcome of this behavior is what I hate. Not the children.
Give your child responsibilities at a young age. Make them feel that they are important just like you, not beneath you. Speak to them as you would an adult. They will speak better more quickly and they will respond to you. not against you. Teach your child the importance of nutrition and and hygiene. Take them out with you and show them when it is okay to sing and dance and when you need to respect others by being quiet. Do not respond to their every whim but tell them when they need things and when they do not need things. I am not saying this will stop a child from ever crying or stop them from acting out forever. It will help them get on in the world.
So my friends, I no longer hate children. I hate how they are raised in this day and age.
