Lloyd Elsner; leader of “People Against Synthetic Emotions”
“Who’s little one is that? Who brought her? Close the door, quickly!”
“Goodness, hold him down!--”
The door was slammed in Lillian’s face by one member, drowning out Elsner’s words immediately, before the bolt on the other side slid into place. An awful ruckus of shouts and items being thrown ensued, muffled by the heavy door, before there was a resounding crash upon the floor -- indicating the end of the commotion. Whatever had fallen was certainly heavy, and there was a quick shuffle of shoes as all conversation fell to hurried whispers, before everything was suddenly silent. One might find the situation highly terrifying upon first inspection, but to the members of P.A.S.E, it was simply another day dealing with a poor, unfortunate soul.
“Who might you be then, love?” A thick, Irish accent sounded from the now-ajar door, displaying a glimpse of the scene within. Inside, rows of fold-away beds lined the walls, but most had been forcefully shoved aside by the single gentleman being comforted in one of them. With both hands, he clutched onto a member’s arm, sobbing incoherently whilst the latter attempted to calm him down. Stood near the opposite wall, another member worked on dislodging a knife from the brickwork, but any other activity was blocked out by Elsner’s form as he closed the door.
“That’s a sight no little one should see,” the leader commented, noticing Lillian’s curious glances. How could he possibly explain to the darling that the gentleman had taken a toxic concoction? He’d thought that what he was taking had been Happiness, but instead, fell victim to the many dangerous replications. Goodness knows what the gentleman envisioned, but it apparently warranted stealing a knife from their pop-up kitchen, running through their safe house, and threatening to harm anyone who came close to him. “Is your mummy or daddy around? I'm not here to shout at you, okay? I just have to know who brought you here.”
“ you alright, kiddo ? “ he asks, setting the young girl down ‘pon the ground------FAR AWAY from the flashing lights of the nypd & the commotion of the bank robbery he’d just put a S T O P to. spidey looks her over in concern before asking softly: “ you need me to take you home, huh ? “

Joseph felt terrible tearing the young girl away from his colleagues’ fascinating stories, but his stomach was telling him to do otherwise; the only form of breakfast he had was a slice of toast, and even that had been without butter. The detective was an early-morning person, usually, but his phone had run out of battery during the night. No alarm meant a very panicked Joseph, and he was beginning to regret not double-checking his phone last night; he was far too tired from the previous shift to remember to charge it. Ultimately, by 10am, the detective was more than ready for his first break. All the paperwork that had been dumped on his desk certainly built up his appetite, any way.
He found Lillian surrounded by most of the investigation team, happily chatting away as they congregated within the second floor offices. It didn’t take Joseph long to locate the sound of his colleagues’ cheerful laughter, their noise carrying down the hallway. A quick glance at one of the desks had him noticing the plate of M&M cookies she’d made; they were all attracted to her baking like moths to a flame. Joseph didn’t have much of a sweet tooth, but even he couldn’t deny the treats; he commended her baking skills, and often indulged whenever there were some left over. If any were left over, that was.
An amused smile appeared on Joseph’s face at Lillian’s reaction, her embarrassment causing another eruption of laughter from his colleagues. It was all good fun, however. With a soft chuckle, the detective placed his hand upon the young girl’s shoulder, “You’re an awful influence, Lillian,” he commented, tutting lightly, “distracting them from their work with your baking. I think we need to ban it.” A chorus of booing came from the others, making Joseph laugh, “Okay, okay. I’ll let her off.” He would never suggest such an outrageous act; it was the one nicety that gave them a break from morbid cases. Introducing Lillian to the KCPD may have been the best decision ever. Whenever a particularly messy case came about, and everyone was feeling low that week, the blonde instantly lifted their moods with her enthusiastic attitude; it was something they all desperately needed sometimes.
“Are you ready to go, then?” Joseph asked, letting Lillian say her farewells to the others, before doing the same. With the tug on his sleeve, they were off. It was a lovely day with hardly a cloud in sight, so the detective suggested that they walked to the diner around the corner. The establishment had always been Joseph’s favourite place as a child whenever they visited relatives in Krimson City, speaking animatedly about them serving up the best milkshakes. Since growing up, his main choice of drink was green tea, but there was nothing wrong with treating himself every now and again. Milkshakes could certainly be enjoyed at ten in the morning.

Eli felt the safest tucked away in his loft, knowing full-well that nobody else knew where he lived. It was hidden above an abandoned shop, accessed by a set of stairs that ended at a locked door -- one that only he could open. Even if one was to discover the staircase, tucked away at the back of the derelict establishment, the appearance made it look undisturbed. The synthetic tried his best to leave no trace of it having been occupied in the first place, avoiding moving too much furniture around, or touching parts of the shop that was layered with dust. He’d gotten away with hiding here for the past year, so he must be doing something right.
It was the evening as he sat at his rickety table, once used for poker, repairing the damages he’d received a few days ago. To others, having the skin of their arm pulled back and exposed was worthy of a horror picture, but Eli worked on the components underneath naturally. Some of the metal entwined in his skin had become twisted, so he set to work on fixing them. Where he’d received a cut to his neck, Eli placed a Synth gauze, allowing the equipment to heal it whilst he busied himself with his arm. The Synth gauze repaired any damages quicker than his body would normally heal itself, reducing the time it took, and vanishing any evidence of him having endured a wound in the first place.
Eli had been too engrossed in repairs to hear the door behind him open. He’d left it unlocked by mistake. It wasn’t until he caught a glimpse of a face in the reflection of the window that he noticed. Dropping the set of small pliers in his hand, the synthetic stood up and turned around quickly, fear etched onto his features. He was ready to reach for his handgun, by his person at all times, when he recognised the equally shocked face staring back at him.
Goodness, no.
“Lillian! How did you find me?” Eli exclaimed, picking up a washcloth from the table and draping it over his arm, hiding the evidence of his synthetic properties. “I told you to never try to find me!” He made that rule known continuously, though he’d never specified why. He couldn’t let Lillian know that he was an active fugitive, but most importantly, a synthetic. "Please...wait outside the room until I call you back in."

Hel laughed, letting Lillian pull her to her feet in the middle of the room. No one else was home, and even if they were, Hel had been dancing for too long to be embarrassed by it. Holding Lillian by her hand, she thought for a minute. “Well I mean, we could - I’m sure I could make a waltz or something work for it somehow - but anything upbeat works for me too. Unless you were wanting a slow song,” she teased, leaning over to kiss the other girl’s cheek. She knew a fair few of the ballroom dances, among other things.
"Tu es tellement mignon quand tu rougis." She's blushing profusely as she said it, not even knowing if Hel knew what she had said at all.

Hel felt her cheeks go red, smiling at Lillian. She knew French well enough to know exactly what had been said, and appropriately enough, she was blushing. “Et tu est tellement mignon tout le temps.”
