I get why people don't want a chosen one narrative for Din but I don't really think it really applies to him. Chosen ones usually have something that makes them "destined" for an especific role. Like Anakin or Luke. Din wasn't born mandalorian, he's just an orphan from a regular planet who chose to be a Mandalorian after being rescued by them. He didn't rescue Grogu because he knew he was a powerful force user, he did it because he saw himself in him and his religion encourages protecting kids. He makes connections because he's an honorable warrior, not because ppl think he's special. The dark saber fell into his hands because he wanted to save his son, not because he desired power. And imo that's what makes him compelling and why we want to see him being a leader, he has it in him. It's interesting how Emily Swallow has said the armorer sees the potential in him, and wants to guide him to be the best version of himself. At this point it's more like the universe is thinking this guy is neat and should be more because his people need him (he's just very stubborn to not stand out!) and not someone who is destined for a big role (imo Bo Katan is filling that role rn). If anything I think that's why they're gonna make him choose to lead eventually. A choice that will chance mandalorians forever.

I think of him more in the lines of Ahsoka than Luke or Anakin, so much potential for greatness that comes from their personality and struggles, and not a particular blood lineage! (not that I have anything against those ofc)

I was looking at queer adaptations/stagings of R&J, and noticed how many of them fundamentally did not understand the lovers’ relationship to gender. Romeo Montague is like,,, not masculine at all, and in fact multiple characters comment on how feminine he is, and yet despite that, these adaptations kept denying him the femininity that he has in the text. And I started to notice the same with Juliet, but with masculinity. And there’s just so much imagery in the ways that they talk abt themselves/how others talk about them that subvert Elizabethan gendered symbolism. And of course, there’s the fact that R and J’s whole thing when they meet each other is that for the first time, they are meeting someone who GETS their whole deal. Who understands them in a way the other people in their life can’t, which is the biggest T4T mood. It just seemed weird to me that even these gay adaptations were missing the very thing that drew me to the play in the first place
