Your Deepest Desires
What if God decided to give you what you always wanted? What if God decided to give you what you always dreamed of?
Yesterday as I was praying, the Lord reminded me of a book that I had read in elementary school. In the book, a cat and a dog are running a race. When the race begins, the dog takes off with great speed. As he runs, he notices a bone at the side of the road. As we all know, dogs love bones and this dog is no different. When he sees his favorite snack, the dog becomes distracted. He stops running to devour the bone and forgets about the race.
I believe God put this story on my heart for a reason. He wanted to remind me that sometimes He does not give us our deepest desires because He knows that, like the dog, we will become distracted by them and forget about the race we are running. The Bible says that God will not keep anything good from us. And maybe you have been asking God for something for a long time. Today, I urge you to look into your heart; if God decided to give you that thing would you serve Him the same way? Or would you be distracted by it?
My friends, God is the lover of our souls. Our souls are His priority. So please remember that anything that can distract us from this race He has set before us is fatal to our destiny.
