On Thursday night in Logan Square – Chicago, Open TV Originals produced a launch party for season two of the web series, You’re So Talented at The Whistler with DJ Tess of Slo ’Mo on the 1s & 2s.
With over more than 100 fans in attendance at the event, the series creator, Sam Bailey said, at the start of the event that some of the only ones in attendance at the launch party for season one was the cast, which includes some of the best talent Chicago has to offer including: LaNisa Frederick, Ashleigh Lathrop, Gabe Franken, Gabriel Ruiz and Bethany Thomas.
Those in attendance at the event got a chance to view high quality trailers for this season, on-set photos by Megan Lee Miller and episode one of season two, which is currently available here.
For those unfamiliar with the series, according to youresotalented.net – the series follows Bea, an out of work Chicago artist, as she navigates her twenties and all of its inevitable dramas.
The series was created by Bailey. It is produced by Our Names Our Sam, creative production duo comprised of Bailey (writer, producer, director, actor) and Sam Lee (producer, musician, writer/director, educator). And it is presented by OpenTV.
This year, You're So Talented was honored by Tribeca Film Festival as part of their New Online Work Program and is nominated for a Gotham Award in the Breakthrough Series - Short Form category.
The second season was produced with a grant from the Chicago Digital Media Production Fund, a project of Voqal fund administer by Chicago Filmmakers.
After the screening, there was music, drinks and photos. I spoke to Jessica Marks of @thegood-nightladies, who told me how diverse the cast and crew of the series has been from the start, so I end this by saying many thanks to the Aymar Jean Christian professor, producer and developer of media arts at Open TV Beta, a platform for indie arts and artists, developing original series by and about queer, trans and cis-women and people of color.
