Your story matters! What a honor meeting Brandon from @strangersproj tonight. Unplanned. My bestie @giorgioalxndr and I stumbled across this gallery of people's stories on display. Brandon generously shared how he started out as a curiousity exercise to now traveling full time setting up pop-up and gallery installations to share selected anonymous stories out of over 35,000 stories he has collected since 2009. He toured 100+ cities so far. I wrote my story and reflected on the priviledge to take part in this experience. What a beautiful and powerful reminder of the magic of our living history in sharing our stories! The more I ponder and spoke with Brandon about his experience, the more I was in awe of this human expression as I read more stories. You deserve to experience this in person for yourself. One story hanging behind Brandon started out something like this... "When I was homeless..." It almost feels like reading a snippet of people's diaries without knowing specific individuals. As a coach, I joke that I am a professional story interrupter. But from reading the raw and presentness of people's stories, I realize how important this shared common experience is for our collective humanity. I had the honor of getting to know Brandon tonight as I sat next to him waiting for my phone to charge and witnessing the outpouring of gratitude and in aweness from attendees and the people requesting to write their own stories. Someone turned in his writing and thanked Brandon for his exhibit and story sharing experience for saving his life. I almost broke down and had joyful cry. Thank you brother friend! You have created a safe and sacred space for people to both exercise their own sharing and receiving the gift of this human expression. #ShareYourStory #Mattering #YourStoriesMatter (at Fountain House Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm46umBHXJo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=pajalc9bmcjq
