The Youth Zone is FREE💛 and includes a resource fair, a fun art activity, a photo booth, an opportunity to be a part of our Stop-motion video booth, and our annual free Kiki Ball: The Big Top! The Youth Zone will take place from 4pm to 9pm and the entire event is youth, young adult & family friendly.👩👩👧👦🌻
The Resource fair will be made up of 15+ organizations relating to Legal, Housing, Education, Employment, Behavioral/Mental Health, Healthcare, and Enrichment Services, as well as organizations dedicated to Social Justice. Be sure to check it out for some valuable information and free swag!!✨

Throughout her career Dr. Amena Johnson has had a deep commitment to youth, social justice, advocacy and educational equity. She specializes in training, facilitation and curriculum development. Amena has an extensive range of experience as a non-profit, and social services leader and higher education student affairs professional. She has engaged communities in dialogue and learning around: urban bias, intersectionality, the intergenerational workplace, LGBTQ topics, and diversity and inclusion in educational and nonprofit organizations.
Dr. Johnson is currently the AFFIRM Supervisor at the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services. In this role she manages a program that supports LGBTQ youth in foster care. Amena is the former Assistant Director at George Mason University’s LGBTQ Resource Center. Dr. Johnson also served as the Interim Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Multicultural Education from 2015 – 2016 at George Mason University. Prior to George Mason she was Director of Programs at Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders (SMYAL) a youth center for LGBTQ youth ages 13-21. Amena was also a Community Initiatives Associate at the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
Amena received a BFA in Drama Therapy from Longwood University. She also received an MS in Organizational Leadership and Ed.D in Higher Education Leadership from Wilmington University.
In 2015, we kicked off Baltimore's first prom for LGBTQ high school-aged youth and allies! It was an amazing night, and this year it's back again for its FIFTH year! All youth ages 14 to 19 in Baltimore and all surrounding areas are welcome. Join us at the Rainbow Fish Paradise! Our prom is FREE and includes dinner, entertainment, dancing, and a community resource fair. This year will be waves and waves of fun.

This event will provide a space for attendees to enjoy their special night with safety and respect. All attendees must be high school-age (14-19) and all attendees are required to register for entry into the prom with a picture ID. If you are not registered, or you do not have a picture ID, you will NOT be allowed entry. Please review the Official Event Rules and Guidelines before registering. Official Event Rules and Guidelines
Event is intended for high school age youth (14-19 years old)
Registration and valid ID (school or state issued) REQUIRED for entry
Please register with the name as it appears on your valid identification
Entry into the LGBTQ Prom is a first come basis. If maximum capacity has been reached, entry will not be permitted even if youth has an official ticket
The use of alcohol, drugs, and/or controlled-dangerous substances before, during, or after the LGBTQ Prom is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in the youth being denied entry and/or participation in the LGBTQ Prom
This is a non-smoking event. Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the premises
If an attendee exits the event, they will not be allowed to re-enter
All attendees must be off the premises by 11:30PM
All bags or personal belongings are subject to search. Anything found that violates any LGBTQ Prom policies will result in the attendee being denied participation in the LGBTQ Prom
There is no coat check available at the LGBTQ Prom
All attendees will be subject to a metal detecting process
All weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited
We reserve the right to remove any attendee from the LGBTQ Prom at any time for any reason

Kirk W. Pressley also known as “MC Boom Boom” is a native of the Metropolitan area. He is a graduate of Bowie State University and Two time Student Government Association President and University Council member. Having over 9 years of community outreach experience. His passion to uplift and excite others is unmatched. He is community organizer, personality, and Ballroom advocate. Making his mark on entertainment and community culture in the DMV he is best known for his work with Miss Black USA, Radio One Blitz as a correspondent, "UGLIES" on BRBTV, POSE on FX Extra, and Host of CheerStarz of America. He has hosted over 400 shows nation wide! Kirk is an active member of the House of Balenciaga as well as other aspects of the House & Ballroom community. His work within the community health space is proving to be an out of the box way to get people involved in education and safe space building. Kirk W. Pressley serves as the coordinator for development and special events at Us Helping Us People into Living based in the DMV.
