You’ve fallen asleep on the other end of the phone, snoring ever so lightly and soft. I imagine you dreaming of walking the town, walking above the rainbow’s glow, facing a full set with your new Fender... or perhaps even of me, your dear lover. I hear you snore again - you’re warm beneath your puppy-printed sheets this summer’s evening, a little ball of heat for the teddy bears you’ve tossed aside over the years. Another grumble - I feel my eyes grow heavy as I imagine how it always feels to spend the night under the same collection of covers. Nothing could dare go wrong, as your breathe envelops my neck, your nose buried just in the crook of it, keeping the goosebumps far. Your legs have been thrown over mine, as you reach across my chest and pull me nearer with every passing hour. This is warmth from the core, warmth from the heart, warmth from yours and mine alike. Therefore, as you are dreaming peacefully in these early hours of the morning while I have yet to sleep, I am busy remembering just how in love with you I really am, and I am not afraid. My heart feels aglow. My heart feels warm.

It just seems that it takes some innocent snoring from the person I love most in this world to bring out the best of my charcoal heart.
