Hey... Thanks for sticking around even though I haven’t been very active. I ran into some burnout around christmas last year and it took a while to find the strength to make art again. I’ve been drawing stuff just for fun again recently, even fanart ^u^ Finals will be over soon, so hopefully I can start posting here again in a bit!

I’m back!

I just realized I haven’t really been posting here at all. I always thought original work got no attention here, but maybe that’s not true :)

I think I’m in a better place with social media at the moment and feeling cautiously optimistic despite all this A/I stuff. I’m curious if the amount of people moving here from twitter will add new life or art communities. Many of the blogs and artists I follow on here don’t really post anymore, so I’m trying to find the people who are here now.

All this to say I’ll be posting some of the work I’ve made through the past couple years 👍

Updates

Hello new followers! welcome aboard ^^

So, I recently got a cintiq! very exciting. Half of it was a gift and the other half bought with my own hard earned money, a good combination i think. It has really made comic-making easier. It took a little time getting used to it, but now it feels very natural. I can get just the line I want and I think not having to use ctrl+z 500 times really helps in speeding things up haha. I now have about 50 pages laid out for the dragon comic and have begun tonework and lettering. As I finish pages I print them and hang them on the wall for motivation :) Not quite sure when I’ll be able to start publishing, but I’ll keep you updated ^^

Coming up with ideas for illustrations takes a toll and I’ve been a bit low on energy lately, so I think I’ll do some fanart and technique study while I recharge. Hope you’re all doing well! Here’s a pic of my camellia:

Life update + comic

Alright, its life update time! This September I realized that Japanese studies weren’t what I wanted to do with my life and essentially stopped going to class. This was a rather drastic move for me, I’ve always been the diligent student, going straight to uni after high school without a sabbatical etc. I now plan to switch to art history instead as I think there’s where my passion lies. I had a minor crisis upon deciding to leave Japanese, but I’m glad I could learn the language to some degree and I think the two years I spent studying it helped me figure out what I really wanted to do. So! Now I have a year off to draw and travel, pretty neat ^^ 

I’m currently working on my first real, 80+ page comic about a knight and a dragon. I now have around 40 pages of thumbnails, 28 pencilled and 14 inked pages and I’m in the middle of writing a part two of the story. I’m very excited for it and can’t wait to share it! ^w^   (my inktober has pretty much been spent inking pages haha)

I’m also trying to improve at digital painting and my style seems to be all over the place right now, kind of annoying, but ah well! I hope I can put up stuff more regularly in the future :)
