Jeffery Williams has been caught in the crossfire of political warfare.

  In September 2023, Governor Kemp signed Senate Bill 92 into law which allowed for more oversight into the conduct of state prosecutors and for a congressional subcommittee to be convened should such conduct be suspected to have gone rogue. This makes it harder to prosecute former President Trump in his election interference case because it brings more scrutiny into the Fulton County DA's office. The DA wants to continue going after Trump, so she filed an injunction to halt the bill from going into law. Kemp appointee Judge Whitaker denied this injunction and the bill took effect in October of 2023. In doing so, Judge Whitaker helped Kemp and the Republicans keep Trump out of court. Trump maintains that he was constitutionally protected by the 1st amendment, and that the charges laid against him were a farce. 

  However, the DA would relent and continue to try and stop Senate Bill 92 from interfering with her prosecutorial ambitions. The way she did this was by riling up her constituence. She'd make public statements claiming that "Atlanta has a gang problem," and take certain liberties in speaking for everyone else in saying that "We all know it." This view leaves a lasting impression on people who seek to do good on others, but lack the imagination to see how that could be possible in an imperfect world. Upon being faced with bad things and being without a remedy posited on any self belief to make a difference, a feeling of helplessness sets in and the collective seems the only option.

  Essentially, the DA is using the YSL RICO to claim that the Trump RICO isn't just a one off, and that a liberal spread of RICO is necessary due to the publicized criminal environment that has taken over her county. Therefore, the DA is able to reach the people and interest groups that having the power to subdue would prove a much better use of its resources than to fill jails with people who were already in chains to begin with.
