Shadow Games [[ Batman & Slade ]]

Many people asked him Why Gotham? Why not somewhere more bright, more lively, less grey?  Let a meta handle this dump.

Gotham wasn't just a cheap hooker to give off to the next man in town who claimed he could tame her. She was a femme fatale, a temptress in the night, so dark and twisted it brought you back for more and more until you were a worthless heap of trash wondering where your mind had gone and what had happened to your pants. The Batman could never save her. She was too far hung on ecstasy and cheap wine to bring her back to the living light.

But he swore that he would never let her be sick another night all alone.

He roamed the streets originally as a means to exact revenge, to strip the land of its wrong and its horrible.

He got chewed up and spit out rather quickly. Working within her twisted logic was the only way to play the game.

Batman stood perched on the roof of a bank building, over looking one of the busiest street intersections in all of the city. The city was not exactly quiet, but the recent issues with Vandal Savage and the Light made his city seem almost on a completely different plane of issues.

A drug bust to an inter-galaxy war.  A rape to mind control and forgotten memories.

What's a god to a non-believer?

On his guard, the Batman allowed his senses to over take him, reaching out all around to feel anything of the abnorm. Robin was currently home now from his patrol, having school the next morning.

It was a lucky thing too, for the shadow that began to move in Batman's right corner of his vision was just itching for attention.

Taking out his grappling hook, he swung towards the movement.

One last chase, and he'd call it a night.
