YUKI 7 - A 70’s inspired silly spy action show from indie studio CHROMOSPHERE, starring secret agent Yuki, her talking cat, and a robot turtle as they go on mysterious missions. The animation and style of the show is very well done, the character writing is fun, and the touches to make it feel like a show airing on an old TV just really show it’s a labor of love from the crew. The Comic Shop - A live action sitcom done in the mockumentary style in the vein of The Office or Abbott Elementary! Created by Cheyenne Ewelu, who also stars as the lead, we see the escapades of Stephanie, Keith, Dominique, and Connor trying to run their upstart comic shop. The writing is sharp, I already love all of these characters, and it feels like a love letter to nerd and comic culture. The team is able to use their sets economically to pull off a funny, sweet show on a budget that I honestly could see being on primetime TV. The show’s been in production for a little while now, but has been recently premiering on Fridays! Slap the Deck - A recently released SVA thesis film by Erim Cetinel about axolotls on a boat!! It’s really old school looney tunes in the best of ways, from the artstyle to the framing, while refreshing the gags and ideas in fun ways. Don’t wanna spoil too much, it’s so delightfully toony. It now has at least a few thousand more views than I saw it last, but it needs more!! Came across this in my recommendations and it's a real dang good cartoon. Great all around. Went into full werewolf-tearing-off-his-shirt mode when I found out that the theme was composed and partially sang by The Go! Team.

part of the larger BLINDFOLD series since 2015, this film is similarly unique in its direction and visual style, and it’s as brilliant as it is captivating. imo my favorite of the series has to be the WASTELAND anthology.

I'm only just getting into Yuki 7, but one thing I really like about it that's now really definite is how it's still a fictional franchise, now with an expanded timeline/history.
In the '60s, Yuki 7 was a straightforward spy-fi film series (not actually, to be clear, at first it was a pair of art books with this fictional history and tie-in animated trailers done within 2009-2011).
Then, the first microseries seems to come across as if it was revived as all-family TV show in the '70s (actually just a few years ago) with more sci-fi elements like a robot turtle, dinosaurs, and a talking cat.
And now it's confirmed the upcoming miniseries Hotel Kolkata 'aired' in 1981.
I don't know what the point of this post is, just that fictional TV history stuff like that really appeals to me and I wish I can own those art books.
