ever since they introduced the master we see in dark road as odin i keep drawing connections between odin in kh to odin in myths to MoM. because, if i remember right, odin gave up one of his eyes for knowledge. which isn't too far off base of what MoM did. And from what I've seen of odin in dark road? he seems like he's missing an eye. I'm probably paranoid about it but i'm curious about your thoughts on this?
Oh, I’ve seen the parallels going around. I think it’s telling that Odin’s official profile specifies his “single, piercing eye”
And the “Not a lot is known about him. Yet.” part is especially suspicious
The problem we run into, though, is with theories that Odin is the Master of Masters. The MoM shows up in a scene in Re:Mind where Xehanort’s 18-20 years old and he has the same voice from Back Cover, and he seems to be too animated to be as old as Odin looks. Not to mention that Xehanort would probably recognize his own Master at that point
Most theories involve the MoM body hopping. But in that case, how would he leave Odin and obtain his old body for the Re:Mind scene? If we assume that time travel is involved, and the Xehanort scene was past MoM traveling to the future and Odin is current MoM, then why did the MoM appear at his normal age in the Yozora Secret Ending of KH3? And if the MoM was just gonna be body hopping anyway, then why even bother giving Luxu his role?
It’s hard to think that they’re completely unconnected, though, given how much Odin’s story matches up with the MoM, but there’s too many questions it raises for them to be the same person. If Odin is someone already in the series, there’s another possible candidate for him to be
Luxu. He’s been confirmed to have been body-hopping to ensure that the No-Name gets passed down, and the No-Name is hanging on the wall in Odin’s classroom. Not to mention that Eraqus describes the story of the Keyblade War as “the Master’s favorite story,” meaning that Odin knows it well (as Luxu, the observer, would). Given Odin’s age, he could have been a possible host for Luxu just before Braig. Braig is also a character who’s notoriously lost an eye, though what seems to be a different one than the one Odin has hidden
The only issue with this, though, is Luxu’s own statement in the Secret Reports: “Until now, I have watched over the course of events from a distance. Perhaps the time has come to intervene.” (Secret Report 13) This seems to imply that he wasn’t involved with Xehanort at all until he took on the identity of Braig, but it’s also not conclusive
Personally, I’m waiting for the game to drop tomorrow, because I want to see how they handle Odin’s sprite. We only see him from one side in his profile. If they just mirror his sprite when he’s facing the right, then I’d say it’s fair to guess that he has both eyes and just likes to keep one hidden for some reason. If he has a custom sprite to keep his left eye covered, specifically, then that would imply that the eye is either missing or notable in some way and we can speculate from there
