I'm on my Cdrama era and just finished Prisoner of Beauty. I felt completely unattached to the ML & FL more so because of the political climate and the intricacies of their relationship arc but after watching the final episode I find myself questioning why I'm lowkey sorta rooting for Yu Lou and Liu Yan. Like as I'm watching their demise a spinoff drama is playing in my head, where Yu Lou gets a second chance at life a la Blossom (2024). She is powerless in changing her fate at first, unable to prevent the tragedies of the Wei family and her betrothal falling through but little by little she rights wrongs whilst also atoning for her follies to the Weis and Qiaos in her previous life, all the while leading and paving a path for Liu Yan to a stabler and more righteous path.
