Chinese New Year Yee Sang (Prosperity Toss) at Aunty Franklee, Russell Street, Melbourne. To celebrate Chinese New Year, the Chinese enjoy a special dish comprising seven symbolic delicacies called Yee Sang, which means 'increase in abundance and vigour'. The ritual is to toss the mixed ingredients high in the air with a shout of 'Loh Hey', literally meaning to ‘move upwards’. It's symbolic of the wish for our fortunes and prosperity to rise and expand during the forthcoming year.
