Aayes looked up to see Fulcrum had entered the kitchen, still slowly waking up. "Did you sleep well?" "Yeah." He studied her as he poured himself some caf. "Did you?" Had he seen her? "I guess." "I saw you last night. Your eyes were glowing and you were talking. Are you okay?" She hesitated, her lekku twitching a bit nervously. "I..." What was she supposed to say? The Force was foreign to Fulcrum, sometimes more than that. "I was talking to my mother's spirit." The Kaleesh was shocked. "So Ixarte--" "No, not Ixarte. My biological mother, Shiri." The woman whose holo he'd found for her. "Do you want to talk about it?"
“Y--yeah...” Aayes took the tip of one lek between her fingers, rolling them up and down. “It was...odd. I kind of had a vague memory of her, but seeing how similar we were, hearing her voice...” She felt her throat choke up, and her eyes dampen.
Fulcrum pulled her close. “It’s okay, take your time.”
She smiled. “It was nice to be able to talk to my mom. She was so proud of how far I’ve come, everything I’ve done.”
“She wasn’t bothered you by you being trained as a Sith?”
“No. She was happy I was rescued, and that I kept a good moral compass all this time.” She sighed and nuzzled into his chest. “And she likes you, too.”
He smiled softly. “I’m glad you could talk to her, even if I don’t get it.”
“I’m just happy to have you to talk to about it, cyare.” She wanted to tell him that she wished she could help him talk to his deceased clan members, to help him reconnect with their souls. But...that might be pushing it, and she was a diplomat. “What’s on today’s agenda?”
