⊰ A SHARP PAIN SHOOTS THROUGH HER LEG. Something was sprained. A hiss seeps out in agony as she attempts to stand up, only to wobble and fumble back down. What had happened was still coursing through her mind as she attempts to decipher the incident, piecing together the pieces and figuring out whether it was actually a coincidental mugging or if perhaps there was something else involved. However, that thoughts are brushed aside the instant she notices a bloodied hand extended out for her to grab a hold of. Their eyes meet. She’s grateful. If matters weren’t taken into Yuri’s hands, their lives would have been sucked right out of them and it wouldn’t be two corpses, but four. The bundles of joy that rested inside Yuri’s womb wouldn’t have survived. In a way, Tessie feels a wave of guilt wash over her - she could have done more. She could have utilized those skills she had learned so many years ago to her advantage, but no. Instead she tumbled backwards, tripping over the curb and spraining her ankle. She sighs. Angry at herself, but relieved. Grabbing a hold of the other female’s hand, she musters all the strength in her body to get up and stand on her feet. Pools of crimson spread across the floor. Shit. This took a turn for the worse. No badges. If they run, then that would mean they were criminals. If they stayed, it would mean they were criminals. But it was all done in self defense no? So why should they have to run away from the scene of the crime. Her brows furrow this time not due to the pain, but due to their situation at hand. It was sticky. But she trusted Yuri. With her life now since she saved it. So Tess places an arm around the detective’s shoulders and makes every attempt possible to keep up with the pace of the other’s. Imagine this - a crime scene investigator running away from the scene of the crime. How ironic would it be if she received a call into work and this was the case she had to find evidence for. The thought makes her chuckle under her breath, and at the same time scowl at the thought itself. ❛ Sorry I couldn’t have done more, Yuri. ❜ Guilt still looms over her like a heavy rain cloud, ready to send droplet upon droplet down.
