i’m looking at files on my computer and i don’t think i ever posted these
Good morning! (Or evening if you prefer) I am well aware that's it's nowhere even close July let alone Christmas, but I wanted to put my singing skills out there for once, and this was the best song I could think of to do so! It's my first time doing anything like this as you can tell, so it's not perfect, but I hope my ukulele and I can keep you cool while the temperatures begin to rise with this chilly tune!
On a more positive note, I found my Blueray of The Year Without A Santa Claus and my heart is just??? So full
For those unaware, Snow and Heat Miser are familial f/os for me. I've watched this movie countless times every year, and this year will be no different! Heck, I even named one of my favorite OCs Ignatius after a character in it! But there's a verse in one of the songs that never ceases to give me goosebumps because of how close it is to my heart;
"So you're too old for Santa Claus,"
He said with a smile,
"Then you're too old for all the things
That make a life worthwhile.
For what is happiness but dreams,
And do they all come true?
Look at me and tell me son,
What is real to you?"
That verse has always meant a lot to me. It's something I've always believed in and loved, something I live my life by. You never have to outgrow happiness, childlike wonder, silliness, or even something like self shipping. What's important and what's real is what's real to you.
Maybe I read too much into it, maybe I'm just overly attached to my fictional family, but that verse has always meant so so so much to me. This movie has always meant so much to me.
I'm so excited to enjoy another year of some very special, and likely some of the first, parts of my fictional family 💕
EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT HOW HEAT MISER RHYMED DEGREES WITH DEGREES BUT NO ONE TALKS ABOUT HOW MRS CLAUS RHYMED ME WITH ME
LIST OF RANKIN BASS FILMS DUBBED INTO OTHER LANGUAGES
FULL DUBS
japanese rudolph i found this online in really bad quality so i took the audio and synced it to hd visuals myself, anyway this is... a thing that actually exists... and the boss elf sounds like the nani meme
portugese rudolph really weird and strange dub... there’s this terrifying ominous music playing in the background the whole time, the songs are dubbed and the instrumentals are all in GLORIOUS MIDI, in an interesting turn of events fame and fortune is played over the misfits footage, also hermey sounds like snow white and the misfit toy scooter gave me a heart attack
spanish rudolph so both this one and the japanese one have the actual instrumental background music from the movie playing when they’re talking and i don’t know what year these were dubbed or how they got access to the actual movie score. i don’t really have much else to say besides the fact that hermey sounds like a 10 year old girl and the newborn baby rudolph sounds like an adult man trying to do a baby voice and it made me laugh so hard.
russian rudolph so this is just one of those things where the original audio is playing and people are talking over it... and they talk over the songs too but only sometimes??? and when santa starts singing it sounds like a car revving up. also it’s clearly like one man and one woman doing it in one take so some of the lines are really delayed and it’s kind of awkward and funny
spanish santa claus is comin to town this one also has the real background music. the kringles’ voices made me CHOKE. honestly not too much to say about this one...
portugese santa claus is comin to town it’s the same as the rudolph one, there’s this ominous music in the background that never stops [it’s not as horror movie sounding as the rudolph one] and the songs are dubbed with midi instrumentals again and there’s this really weird and overused sound effect in almost all of them that sounds like someone moving their hand across every note on a keyboard. this one also has the english audio really really quiet behind it??? TOPPER SOUNDS LIKE AN ACTUAL DOG TOY??? and in the scene where kris gives winter the toy train it plays MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS???? REALLY OFF KEY???? anyway this one is really weird and honestly hilarious.
russian santa claus is comin to town again just like the rudolph one, quiet english audio with a russian voice over. but this time it’s just ONE UNENTHUSIASTIC GUY who doesn’t even change his voice... it’s pretty boring, this guy sounds so tired.
french frosty the snowman ok so i found this CURSED video of a terrible vhs tape of what seems to be a french dub of frosty but it HURTS MY EYES to look at it it’s like a rave is going on. anyway frosty sounds like he’s possessed and karen sounds cute.
spanish frosty not much i can say here... it’s got the original background music like the other spanish dubs... nothing really weird though...
CLIPS FROM DUBS
here are a few languages i could find clips from but not the entire thing
german rudolph so this is a trailer? for a german dub of rudolph? this is all i can find on it and the voice acting choices are... odd...
icelandic rudolph so i found 2 songs from this one, first we have elf practice [we are santa’s elves] and it kind of just sounds like a cover with a piano backing? but the description says it’s off a dvd. second one we have is clarice’s song there’s always tomorrow again it just sounds like a cover with a piano backing but i’m going to assume it’s from the same dvd since the video is recorded off a tv.
spanish year without a santa claus i couldn’t find ANY dubs of ywasc this is the only one i could find and it’s only the first minute and 40 seconds of the movie
well that’s all i could find if i ever find more i’ll update this
