doudou...... he could be
this one is 7 years abandoned, it says last edit made in 2015. basically it's toudou deciding makishima has a crush on him (rather than realizing he has a crush on makishima) and trying to help makishima come to the same conclusion. if i did want to revisit this idea i would just scrap all of it and redo it, because the only line i really like is the last one:
Toudou wakes up one morning with a startling revelation. It’s so clear, so obvious, how did he not realize it before?
“Maki-chan likes me,” he whispers to himself, giddy, hand to his forehead. It figures though, that Makishima would eventually fall for his charms. Toudou is just filled with charm.
He’s about to message Makishima about his revelation when something similar to restraint stops him. Will being confronted with this deeply emotional truth scare Makishima? Probably, Toudou thinks to himself. Makishima is a very nervy and anxious person, and Toudou worries about him. One misstep and what if he ends up stressing himself out too much? The inter-high’s over (and Toudou’s not going to think about that, he’s not), but what if another chance to race came up?
What he needs to do is have him realize it slowly, by himself. But not too slowly. Toudou’s not made of stone, here.
Toudou gets out of bed and prepares himself for the day. He brushes his teeth, washes his face, and uses one of his nicer day creams. He carefully combs his hair and picks his second-favourite blue headband (his favourite isn’t as flattering, according to polls he’s run with his fan club). He inspects his nails, making sure they’re all neat, trim, and clean. He changes into his uniform, and takes one last look at his mirror. This is as good as it’s going to get, which means that he looks absolutely stellar.
He takes a picture of himself on his phone, considers it, deletes it, adjusts his curtains so more natural light comes into his room, and retakes the picture. Then he sends it to Makishima.

His morning routine done, Toudou goes to get himself a healthy breakfast because he always practices what he preaches.

Toudou gets a reply to his message in the middle class, which means Makishima probably sent it in the middle of his own class. Toudou wants to disapprove, but he can’t help smiling. Getting a message from Makishima always makes him feel so happy. He checks his phone under his desk, quickly.

Toudou feels a little disappointed by the reply. He kind of wanted a picture too, but he knows better than to get his hopes up about that. And if he had gotten a picture, what would it even have looked like? Makishima can’t smile for the camera, or on command, or just in general. He can’t really smile at all, really. It’s kind of sad that this is the boy who’s decided to have a crush on Toudou.
