After cooling off he’s suddenly reminded of something.
“Shiiiiiiiroooo. I want my snack.”
A sad smile. "I'll rely on you but .. there's a lot that I can't ask of you," Shiro mused as he sat comfortably on the others lap. And leant in a little more as toned arms made him feel entirely secure.
“Actively try to ask more of me, okay?” He liked the thought of them being together, but this was a nice start. “And I’ll promise to stop bringing up my age. I can tell it bothers you.” At the same time, if this was all that they ever had between each other, he’d be happy. “Will you stay with me tonight, then? I’d rather cuddle you than have you go home.”
"But what if I also want to be with you? I -- short lifespan or not; I'm not innocent either. It'll all catch up with me too, in time," his hands were on the sides of Antonio's face as he leaned into a feather-soft kiss, "What if I want to be selfish and have you for myself until then?"
“I like to think that it won’t---but that’s to help me sleep at night.” The kiss helped him feel better. It was hard to be anxious when the person he worried for was perched on his lap. “You may have me, then. I have a feeling I’d regret it for the end of my days if I said no, too.” The tea had been forgotten in place of him wrapping his arms around Shiro’s waist. “Remember though, you need to try and rely on me too, okay?”
These felt like mixed signals, and Shiro's signature pout resurfaced, "Antonio... you keep bringing up your age and about being .. old. But then you talk so sweetly to me. I can't tell if you're trying to deter me or -- confuse me."
“It’s not so much that---it’s just that I’m old for an assassin. It’d be unfair to try and start something with you when our life expectancy is so much less.” Shiro was involved to some extent, he knew, but they were still going to college and had art. It didn’t have to end up being the end all for Shiro. “Leaving you behind after such a short time would be selfish, don’t you think?”
"I -- see..." Shiro couldn't read if Antonio was talking poorly on himself, or shutting him down by mention of his age again. Within a few minutes Shiro's back with two cups of tea and a slight smile as he takes a seat on the man's lap again. "I've decided it's comfy here. And please, just 'Shiro'."
“Good. I prefer your warmth.” What a cheesy, stupid thing to say. It must have been the notion of love getting the better of him. “It’s...funny. Or perhaps pathetic that I cling to formalities as if they will save me from getting hurt again.” Glasses were plucked off the bridge of his nose & set gently at the edge of the table. “Truth be told, Shiro, your presence has made me very happy.”
Fingers kneaded into Antonio's shoulders for a mere moment, and then- he pulled out the chair and sat on Antonio's lap. Draping one arm around him he used his other to hold his gaze, "You're not old; you're still in your prime and you'll find someone who's perfect for you." And like that he let go and patted at his cheek, "I'll bring you some tea."
“Ah...let’s be honest Shiro. I’m far past my prime for my line of work. It’s only a matter of time.” The warmth given was taken away just as quickly. A part of him wanted to complain. He smiled despite his own intrusive thoughts, tried his best to shake off a decade’s worth of anxiety. Probably failed. But at least he tried. “Thank you, Mister Yoshiwara.”
"You haven't moved from here in hours," he was curt but concern lingered in the tones of his voice, his hands just rested on Antonio's shoulders, "is everything okay?"
“And I haven’t done much of anything either.” It wasn’t the best of replies, but he wasn’t quite feeling himself. “Truth be told, Mister Yoshiwara, I’m feeling a bit old. It was in February that I met my ex-fiance and wasted a good number of years being fooled by him.”
Cool, slender fingers held the sides of Antonio's face and Shiro smiled as he leant closer -- only to pinch the older man's cheeks.
“!?” He had been staring at a computer screen for hours, but gentle touches along his jawline served as a distraction to his work. Shiro, of course, he knew the touch without having to look up from his reading---but the cheek pinching was what did him in. “Shiro...is this some odd way of demanding attention?”
