I literally have way too many headcanons and theories about Sam and Rafe, especially about their 2 years together, but in short- I swear that NaughtyDog wanted us to be able to think whatever we wanted about them becuase they leave it SO open,  like, we literally get NO canon details about ANYTHING that has to do with Sam and Rafe, and yet they somehow managed to spend 2 years together, and from the start, Sam was the one who found Rafe, but we have no idea how 😏😏😏
