The Chair Company (prods. Tim Robinson & Zack Kanin).
HBO's conspiratorial half-hour comedy series takes its relatively mild-mannered office setting of Robinson's suburban family man going down a rabbit hole, involving the mysterious titular furniture business, deadly seriously. That specific, committed tone is exactly where the sharp absurdist humour derives from. Through its manic lead performance, the deranged (compliment) show hilariously escalates itself into a gripping paranoid thriller of high comic dread reminiscent of the former SNL pair's previous sketch series, I Think You Should Leave.
