💌 Love letters to New Jersey Opening with Newark Liberty International Airport’s new Terminal A, are two site-specific commissions by PAF artists Layqa Nuna Yawar (@layqanunayawar) and Karyn Olivier (@karynolivier). The two permanent monumental works can be encountered not only on multiple levels, but also at multiple points in a traveler’s journey through the terminal. Both artworks serve as love letters to New Jersey, paying homage to its local heroes and unique geography, all while capturing the universal spirit of flight. #NewarkLiberty ❇️ Spanning across the Arrivals Hall—Layqa Nuna Yawar’s vibrant 350-foot mural “Between the Future Past,” celebrates the abundant diversity of Newark, New Jersey—from local flora and fauna to influential identities past and present. The artist reimagined the format of a historical mural to reflect an ongoing cycle of time that embraces past, present, and future. ❇️ Cascading from the Departures level to the Arrivals Hall—Karyn Olivier’s dynamic installation is titled “Approach.” Olivier’s two 50-foot suspended sculptures celebrate flight by reflecting different views of surrounding Newark and Elizabeth, NJ, through photographs taken from sunrise to nightfall of local architecture, infrastructure, and topography.
