Sorry to say this...

... but I'm afraid this is gonna stop being a Mario blog for the time being.

Even though it might not be surprising at this point, I've been meaning to say this for a while... I know this blog started mostly as a Mario one, but I've slowly been noticing how my interest towards this franchise diminished to a point in which I can't even feel excited about the Mario Galaxy Movie 🥲

Don't get me wrong: I'm still gonna watch it. But Galaxy was never a favorite of mine. I didn't even play it until last year, and while I enjoyed it, my general feeling was mostly like... "Okay, cool. Now let's move on to the next thing" 😅 So the sequel being mostly based off of it is not something that appeals to me. I'm actually more excited about all the Odyssey and Wonder stuff, since those are games that I really and deeply love.

Still, the thing is... I'm feeling pretty disconnected from the Mario characters in general. I haven't felt like reading Mario fics in a long time (let alone write them), and whenever I see art or screenshots or whatever... it's just not the same anymore. I'm just like, "okay," and then move on to the next thing as well 🤷‍♀️

You may have noticed that I also don't feel like reblogging Mario stuff. I don't reblog much in general, only once in a blue moon or something like that lol. But while I have no problem in liking some posts here and there, I just don't feel like reblogging anything Mario related, or commenting, or engaging in general. And I'm sorry, because I always want to support my friends. But I also don't want to be forcing myself to show an enthusiasm that's been gone for a long time now.

I still check Tumblr from time to time (again, once in a blue moon as I'm extremely busy IRL), and there's stuff that I might feel inclined to reblog. Mostly writer's stuff, but also, maybe, Zelda stuff, as I've recently started playing Ocarina of Time on NSO. And also Six of crows, as I love those books and I kinda feel the need to fangirl about the characters a bit. And obviously, The Road to El Dorado, which is the reason why I made a sideblog a while back, and where I'm also posting my own drawings for this movie. Which I shall reblog here occasionally, as I'm very proud of them considering I'm but learning when it comes to drawing.

All this to say... Feel free to unfollow me if Mario stuff is what you wanted to see here. Because I'd rather reblog other stuff from now on, whenever I check this blog. Yes, I wrote some Mario fics, and I'm proud of them. But it's not something that's gonna happen again any time soon. I'm writing for my current hyperfixation and I shall be sharing the fics both on my sideblog and AO3.

Still, there's one more contribution that I'll make to the Mario fandom, and it'll happen next week: I've been working on my Luigi's Mansion 3 piece for the Switch Farewell Project. And I shall post it, and then... guess it could be seen as my way of saying goodbye to this franchise for the time being. So you can still look forward to that, in case you're interested (it's fine if you're not ofc lol).

Last but not least, in case you've contacted me through other social media like insta or discord, please bear with me. November has been a horrible month on a personal level and I need a damn break. From everything. So please don't take it personally, I just can't be too active online these days 🙏 I shall respond in a few days, when hopefully things calm down a bit. Thanks for understanding 🫶

Announcement ✨

I wasn't really planning on making a post about this, but since I mostly use this blog only to reblog stuff, I thought I might as well let everyone know that that's gonna change!

Don't get me wrong: I'm still gonna reblog stuff. I feel the need to fangirl a lot about Miguel and Tulio (and The Road to El Dorado in general), so ofc there's gonna be many more reblogs coming. What I mean is... I'm gonna post my own stuff too.

I guess that, in a way, I already did when I posted my very first El Dorado fic a couple of months ago, and I certainly will be doing it again as I'm working on a few more stories as we speak. Still, I'm a slow writer, so maaaany months can go by between one fic and the next (and besides, they always turn out to be quite long lol).

So what I'm gonna start posting is my art. Eh, I'm not even sure if I can call it like that, as I don't consider myself an artist 😅 But lately I've been very inspired to make redraws of my favorite silly gods, and I even have a few original ideas that I hope I can bring to life soon. Also, I feel that I'm learning a lot even though I still have a lot to learn and improve.

But I'm not letting that stop me from sharing what I've made so far and whatever I'll make in the future. It's all traditional art as there's no way that I can afford a device at the moment, but I still hope you'll like it. I won't post everything at once, but maybe... once a week or every other week? We'll see 🤔 There will be times where I might be completely inactive because of my busy life, so I can't promise any kind of consistency. Just like with my writing.

Changes

Hello everyone. This is mostly gonna be an informative post about the immediate future of this account. It's gonna be long, so it's totally fine if you'd rather skip it.

You may have noticed that I've been away from Tumblr for the last few weeks. I'd rather not get into detail about the reasons that led me to make that decision, but despite me doing much better than the last time I dropped by, the thing is that something has changed.

This account is gonna remain mostly inactive. I have notifs, DMs and comments to respond to and I shall get to them at my own time, but I'll hardly reblog any more stuff from now on. Maybe just once a week or something like that, and without getting into much detail, definitely not like I used to reblog stuff in the past. This is absolutely nothing personal, but something that I've noticed recently.

I need a break from the Mario franchise.

You may recall me mentioning that I've been going through a terrible writer's block that made me fear that I'd never be able to write again. It took me about a month, but I ended up realizing that my problem was that I couldn't connect with the Mario characters again. As a writer, I can usually hear them talking in my head, or simply their thoughts, emotions and fears, and that's usually how I'm able to find the words to write them in my fics. But, ever since I wrote Follow me, that's disappeared, and not even the bros or Luaisy, my favorite things to write/consume content about, could make me feel the same enthusiasm again.

So I've come to the realization that this was simply my body asking for a break. I needed to try and find that emotion and excitement in something different. A book, a movie, a song, a show, another videogame franchise... I was craving some variety. And I'm in the process of getting it right now. I'm reading books again. I'm replaying old games like Spyro or Miitopia which I love and adore. I found another movie, one that I fell in love with about ten years ago, that reignited my passion and love for it, and it's brought back the need and desire to write again that I so much missed and yearned to revive. It has nothing to do with Mario, but in case you're interested, you can go here. It's where I'm gonna be most active from now on.

Don't get me wrong: I still love Super Mario. Very much. It's a franchise that's been with me my whole life and will continue to be there no matter what. It was the first series I ever wrote fanfiction for, and I've LOVED and enjoyed every single word that I've written for it. I have WIPs that I intend to finish and share someday. It just won't be anytime soon, so it's totally fine if you'd rather unfollow me. You can still find my stories on my AO3 account and some others that are only available on Tumblr through the tags zahra's writing and zahra's fics. You can also check out zahra's headcanons if you wanna read my Mario headcanons, and even though I'm far from being a talented artist, I've also posted some Mario art that you can find through the tag zahra's art.

That being said, I'll still be supporting Mario content from time to time, only that, as I said, I won't reblog much stuff, and if I do I won't go into too much detail. I obviously want to support my friends, but I also don't wanna, how to say it... sound "fake." I don't want to fake an excitement that I'm feeling 70% instead of 100%, especially when it comes to my friends' content. Who knows, maybe whenever we get a trailer for the Mario Movie sequel, my passion will come back in full force, or at least that what's I'm hoping for.

But in the meantime, this is how I'm gonna proceed.
