Pointing out the misogyny in VRAINS makes someone an incel? Make it make sense
Because the dog don't hunt and most of the time I get this argument it's from people claiming:
A) Aoi stole Miyu's spot as the Magic Child of Destiny (Miyu is a MacGuffin to retcon Aoi back into the Ignis plot)
B) Aoi is a rich whore who deserved being put in her place (no nevermind she suffered a traumatic childhood of theft of property and stints of homelessness)
C) The fact 'Aoi is hated' is argued on a willful misreading of the text when the shit she ends up going through happens to basically the entire rest of the cast to demonstrate Mr. Yoshida's theme, throughout the show, of the dangers of reckless heroism and vigilantism and revenge, and the tragedies of war.
Please try and give me actual arguments. But near as I can tell any misogyny is no worse than the general structural flaws of VRAINS being a quasi seinen in the "Boy's Own Adventure" genre of shonen, no never mind:
A) Konami lavished card after card on Aoi's Decks to make them work, as part of a general movement from ARC-V onwards to support female cast members with solid strategies.
B) Ms. Nakashima Yuki was given plenty of breathing room by the staff because her talent agency, a branch of a small time manga publisher, folded, and she needed to scramble to set up a new agency to represent her.
No never mind she was absolutely busy in the second half of VRAINS because she was a member of Bushiroad's idol band, Roselia.
C) Mr. Yoshida has basically said he's admittedly lousy at remembering to make female characters, and apologizes for it.
D) The show goes to enormous ends to give Aoi room to do things.
Sorry, but the evidence lends itself to Aoi was liked, but the show itself was a bitter tragic cyberpunk psychological thriller where no one wins.
