Can Zakat Be Given Among Relatives?
Islam is the most practiced religion in the world. Muslims are present in almost every region of the world and practicing its teachings but they face some of the problems while practicing its teachings as the month of Ramadan is coming and every person has to pay the Zakat but it is an issue to whom we should give Zakat. Or who should be our first priority?
As giving of Zakat is one of the big issues and it is the most asked questioned by the Muslims that! And can Zakat be given among the relatives? So today I decided to throw some light on this issue. I think from here you will be able to find the correct guidance.
It has been reported by Al-Nasaa, Al-Tirmidhi that ones the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said as follow,
“Zakat given to a poor person is just zakat but Zakat given to a relative is two things zakat and upholding the ties of kinship.”
Giving of Zakat to the relatives is much better than giving them to someone else. As we can see from the above hadiths that the giving of Zakat to the relative has the double benefit. And give zakat to your relatives’ makes you more close.
It has been reported that ones the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said about giving of zakat as follow,
“If you want to give zakat first look around his there any needy in your relatives, then in your friends, then in neighbors if not then give it to the other.”
As we can see from the above Hadith that the person who has the first right on the Zakat are the relatives. But you can’t give Zakat among the relatives among whom you are obligated to spend, but you give them your Zakat so that you can save money then that is not permissible. You can’t give Zakat to your brother, sister, father, and mother. But if they are debt-renders then you can pay if their debts from zakat. There is no issue with it. In such a way you can give them zakat.
According to me the best way to pay the Zakat is to make your relatives do Umrah 2018. It is the best way it has more virtue of this sacred duty. You will get double benefits one is of Umrah that a person will perform by your zakat and the other is Zakat itself.
