DPR Head Zakharchenko assassinated in Donetsk

Alexander Zakharchenko, head of the Donetsk People's Republic, was killed in an explosion at the Separ restaurant in the Dontesk city center Friday evening, the DPR Head Administration said. Fire engulfed the building after the explosion.

Kiev is behind Zakharchenko’s murder – Pushilin 

“This is another aggression from the Ukrainian side. The DPR Head was killed in an explosion which occurred approximately at 5.00 p.m. Donetsk will revenge this crime,” said DPR People’s Council chairman Denis Pushilin.

There is every reason to believe Kiev regime behind Zakharchenko’s murder — diplomat "DPR head Zakharchenko has been killed in a terror attack in Donetsk. There is every reason to believe that the Kiev regime, which has used similar means to eliminate unwanted people who have dissenting views more than once, is behind his assassination," Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS on Friday.

"Instead of complying with the Minsk agreements and searching for ways of resolving the internal conflict, the warmongers in Kiev are implementing the terrorist scenario exacerbating the complex situation in the region."

Behind assassination of Donetsk leader Zakharchenko

The assassination of the prime minister through a terror attack on a civilian target in central Donetsk could not have been carried out by a politically, economically and militarily dependent regime like Ukraine's without high-level U.S. approval.

As if to underline the U.S. role in the murder, the following day Ukrainian President Poroshenko stood side by side with NATO head Jens Stoltenberg at the Washington funeral of war criminal Senator John McCain, who was part of the bipartisan bloc that helped bring the Ukrainian junta to power during the Obama administration.

It's important to ask: Why was Zakharchenko assassinated now, and in this way?

Of course, an attack like this is meant to sow fear in the residents of Donbass and shake confidence in the government of the anti-fascist republic. In this respect it failed, as shown by the defiant mass outpouring for Zakharchenko's funeral. But the attack must also be seen in an international context.

US imperialism is attacking every government that do not fit their own interest and does not compromise with them

On the evening of August 31, Alexander Zakharchenko, the leader of Donetsk People’s Republic, was killed because of a assassination by a bomb placed in a cafe in the center of Donetsk by fascist gangs, with the Minister of Income and Taxations Alexander Timofeyev being severely injured.

It is clear that this attack has been organised by US imperialism and its collaborator fascist Ukrainian state.

US imperialism is attacking every government that do not fit their own interest and does not compromise with them. It is attacking Maduro in Venezuela with a drone. It is implementing sanctions after sanctions against Iran. It is feeding gangs like ISIS and White Helmets in Syria, who are enemies of the people, and makes them attack and organises cowarded massacres. In Yemen, it is killing dozens of people without making, whether they’re children, youth or elderly, by raining bombs on them through their collaborator murderous Saudi Arabian government.

The assassination against Zakharchenko, the leader of the progressive and pro-people government of Donbass is not separate of all these attacks by imperialism. Since the process of the founding of Donetsk and Lugansk pro-people governments, there were numerous assassination attempts against the life of Zakharchenko; who was put on the ”wanted terrorists” list of Ukraine in the list of persons and entities under US and EU restrictive measures.

Zakharchenko joined the militia forces of the people of Donetsk against the fascist Ukrainian government, got wounded in the clashes, participated in the occupation of the Donetsk town hall and the process of the foundation of Donetsk People’s Republic. He was appointed the military commander of the city, and after that, since October 2014, he got his position as the president of the Donetsk People’s Republic. And on August 31 2018 he fell martyred as people’s hero after an assassination.

The peoples of the world will avenge the murderers of Zakharchenko, the imperialists and all the fascist powers like the collaborator Ukraine sooner or later. We send the people of Donbass and all the oppressed peoples our condolences…

‘Not the army alone fights in Donbass, but all the people’

On April 6, head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko welcomed participants of the first mobilization assembly of the Republic’s army reservists.

"The war is ongoing in our land. The enemy is trying to kill us, our children, our parents. For the third year running, the enemy destroys our homes, and every day the Kiev junta says that sooner or later they will destroy and occupy us all. Every day Ukrainian mass media say that the valiant Ukrainian army must kill us all. 

"And today, in this field, we have shown them all that not the army alone is at war in Donbass, but the whole nation. Dear friends, I am proud of having been born in Donbass. I am sure that together we will win. Victory will be ours, the enemy will be defeated," said the DPR Head.

At the training ground, several hundred soldiers from among those who had previously passed military training received small arms for safe custody. The rest of the reservists will be issued weapons later, after passing all the necessary procedures and special training programs.

In total, the first ever DPR field military reservists’ assembly brought together about 30,000 people at the Torez training ground. The participants were aged from 18 to 55 years.

Among reservists there were representatives of ministries and departments, cadets, employees of enterprises from all cities and regions of the country, miners, metallurgists, teachers. Female employees of medical institutions also participated in the assembly. They are the ones to replenish military hospitals’ staff in case of the conflict’s escalation.

The key objective of the mobilization assembly was to drill the Republic’s mobilization reserves for proficiency in case of a large-scale aggravation of the situation in Donbass.

'STOP THE BLOCKADE!' - 17,000 people rally in Donetsk & Lugansk

17,000 people gathered in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics on Tuesday in mass rallies, which backed yesterday's joint statement by the Heads of the DPR and LPR.

Alexander Zakharchenko (DPR) and Igor Plonitskiy (LPR) announced the launch of a receivership transition Control Centre for the enterprises currently operating in Donbass under Ukrainian jurisdiction, and restricting coal export to Ukraine, if Kiev doesn’t lift the transport blockade by tomorrow, March 1.

A rally in support of stronger economic ties with Russia in Yenakievo, a town northeast of Donetsk, gathered over 10,000 residents. Over 7,000 LPR residents have gathered at a rally in Lugansk to support the demand voiced by the LPR and DPR Heads that Kiev stops the Donbass transport blockade.

Donbass pays last tribute to 'Givi'​

On Friday, February 10, the Donetsk People's Republic bid farewell to the Hero of the DPR, Commander of the Somalia assault battalion, Colonel Mikhail “Givi” Tolstykh.

The farewell ceremony took place in the hall of the capital's Donbass Opera. Despite bad frost and wind, tens of thousands of Donetsk residents, DPR citizens from all the Republic's cities, LPR residents, and guests from the Russian Federation came to bid final farewell to the Hero of the Republic. In total, the procession brought together more than 50,000 people. The queue of people with flowers lined up across the whole central district of the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic.

The Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko was one of the first to attend the ceremony. The Head of State paid the tribute to the memory of his friend, fellow soldier, comrade-in-arms.

The flow of people to the Hero's coffin didn't run short for over two hours. But still not all the persons could approach and pay their tribute to the memory of the perished Commander.

The farewell ceremony over, the coffin was solemnly taken out to the square in front of the theatre and set on a cannon gun carriage by military tradition.

Colonel Tolstykh went off on a final journey…

Mikhail "Givi" Tolstykh was buried at the cemetery near the Donetsk sea. He will be resting in peace next to his friend and comrade-in-arms Arsen "Motorola" Pavlov, who was also killed by Ukrainian terrorists.

Tolstykh perished early in the morning on February 8. The explosion was caused by a portable rocket-launcher Shmel. According to preliminary data of the DPR Operational Command, the murder was committed by intelligence agencies of Ukraine.

Mikhail Tolstykh (call-name "Givi") was born in Ilovaisk in 1980. He entered the DPR defenders' ranks from the very outset of the conflict. Since May 2014 he participated in battles for Slavyansk, then for Ilovaisk, since September – for the Donetsk airport. Hero of the DPR, the holder of two St George's Crosses, he was awarded by the medal "For Defense of Slavyansk,” achieved the rank of the Colonel of the Republic's Armed Forces. Repeated attempts were made on Tolstykh's life, and he was wounded in battles several times.
