Hear me out: Spiderman Au but bad end. Hero actually DOES manage to kill Sunny...and realizes that he didn't want this. He didn't want to have Sunny die with a look of bittersweet acceptance on his face, telling him he forgives him. He didn't want to have the last two remnants of his friend group shun him for it. He didn't want Mari, the love of his life, to hate him. And the Symbiote? It's angry. "Didn't you want this? To be a Hero?"

"I forgive you."

They stared as Sunny said that using his last bit of strength. He finally fell limp, and they still stared.

They got what they wanted. Their revenge on Spiderman, on Sunny, for everything he did. But… they still felt empty.

Did he want this?

"Of course we do. Spiderman killed Basil. We got our revenge."

But… Sunny was a kid. He didn't.. he wouldn't do that on purpose, would he? Basil was his best friend, too…

Hero remembered how wrecked Sunny was after Basil's death. How he barely slept, barely did anything. He was devastated.

"He was acting. We saw through it, saw how awful he is. We fixed it."

But he was never good at acting, was he? And Basil was his best friend.

There was Kel, too, of course, but… something more was happening there, wasn't it? He got sent away, but last time he talked to him, he sounded better. Grateful.

Had Spiderman ever actually done something wrong on purpose?"

"Why are we doubting now? We did it. Didn't we want to be the Hero?"

Hero collapsed on the ground in front of Sunny's body, choking back a sob.

Spiderman was never the enemy.

What had he done?
