I don't think there are words to describe how much I loved this album.
I'm talking about Olivia Rodrigo's second album "Guts" before this album I don't listen to much of her music(don't 'cause I think her music wasn't good or something)but I don't now why something on "Sour" doesn't make click with me like "Guts" did
(In other ocasion maybe I'll talk about her "Sour" era,I'm not sure)(For now I will just say "Traitor" and "Happier" are my faves one of that era,and sour have no bad songs in my opinion) But continuing talking about "Guts",all songs are so damn great that I think It's kind of impossible to me say that I have a one favorite beacuase all so relatable and well-written. I really like she sings about more topics, out of just the romantics issues and heartbreak stuff like in "pretty isn't pretty enough". this era got a more pop-rock vibe than her debut era, something that I don't expected to like 'cause I felt that she did better things in pop ballabs songs that her rocks songs,But in this era she really take this songs to other level(I think every single Guts's pop-rock songs are better than Sour ones)I mean "obsessed","love is embarrasing","so american"(I really love could hear a Olivia's sweet-love song, and one of my favorite chorus of this 2023.) The best pop-rock song of Olivia according to me it's "The ballad of a homeschooled girl, for the way she sings I could remenber the kind of stress I felt in the school(for homework, mean people and that kind of bullshit). (also the lyric it's de definition of the feeling that I felt in my last years of high school)(I don't understand why this song doesn't have a music vid yet)
the ballas are as good as the sour ones,It's not a secret her skill as songwriter, logical is my favorite ballad of this album,(teenage dream and the grudge are great one also),(also I liked that the grudge talked about a person that did too much pain but it doesn't feel like romantic thing necessarilly,I felt this one could be more about a frienship from the past.)
I also want to highlight "Stranger" as a very beautiful song about getting over an old relationship that did a lot of damage, the bridge is the best part with no doubt, the rhythm is very relaxing as is the way Olivia sings.
about the singles of this era all of them are so cool the lead single was "Vampire"(where she talks about a relationship who the other one had more control than her on the relation)with a really good music video, and that awesome bridge, any song could be a better introduction of this era than this one.
the second and third single "Bad idea right?"(it reminds me a "Brutal" from "Sour") and "Get him back" "Bad idea rigt?" it's a reallly dynamic music video it's fits so well with the song, the song it's got a fun pop-rock explosive vibe in lyric and in its instrumental. "Get him back" also got this vibe as "Bad idea right?",but I feel in this song it's more fun and enjoyable to sing along.
the last single "Obsessed":this one have the most simple video of "Guts",But the music video still being so nicely-made,I loved this song, got a amazing bridge and the second verse line "You both have moved on, you don't even talk But I can't help it, I got issues, I can't help it, baby" got me
in conclusion this album it was really one of my favorite of 2023,this This album really makes me excited for thinking what she can do for her third album.
