“I’m not gonna lie, I can’t wait to get back to New York,” Nate said absentmindedly to Zander as they were both sitting in the waiting area, other Luxor students mingling around them. “I mean, traveling the world on someone else’s dime, sure, but it doesn’t compare to fucking around out in the Hamptons. I suppose some of the spoiled brats here would point out that just makes me uncultured or whatever.”

“So, I wasn’t really planning on coming back to Luxor for college - with the whole past year as Miss Teen USA and everything, it’s been so busy, but I am so glad to be back,” Gemma said with an overdramatic sigh, already preening in anticipation of compliments sure to come. “Though not going to lie, wish I had known about this South Africa campus earlier,” she added, a small laugh following her words. “So, tell me. Like, catch me up. What’s gone on in the past year, what have I missed? Has it been dreadfully boring without me around?”
“You’re staying, not just visiting?” Zander questions, raising an eyebrow. He hadn’t expected her to want to come back, he’d assumed she was going to try to build off that Miss Teen USA win as long as humanly possible and attend college after it sizzled out. “You missed New Zealand and France.” He shrugs, “otherwise it’s Luxor. If shit gets quiet, that’s when you know something seriously fucked up is around the corner, same old shit.” After all, he was still holding back an I told you so after Secret Santa. “How was being Miss USA?”
“I’m staying,” Gemma confirmed as she lowered herself to sit next to Zander, a soft smile on her face. She waved one hand in dismissal at his words, brushing off the idea that she missed anything. “France, I’ve been to, so I’m not too worried. Though the idea that the same old shit is going around….now that’s a little bit worrisome,” she said, though the expression on her face didn’t change. Sure, the Luxor going on’s of the circle were well known to everyone, but Gemma….didn’t really care. Mostly because it hadn’t affected her yet. “It was great. Best year of my life. I still can’t quite believe I actually won,” she added, if only for modesty’s sake.
Jensen couldn’t stand when people didn’t like her. Not that people usually liked her, but there was something about somebody who just vaguely seemed like they didn’t like her that drove her nuts. At least outright hatred was a reaction, right? And Zander was driving her nuts. So all week she had been going out of her way to win him over, determined she would be able to. She spotted him that afternoon walking alone, immediately bounding over to his side and giving him a wide smile. “Guess what?” she said, her tone maybe just a touch overly enthusiastic.
Sienna had avoided most of the events in the area, mainly because she was working on the adjustment of living on her own. However the Winter Wonder Fest came at a time when she had no excuse to miss out on. As she wandered through the shopping booths, she barely had time to get out of the way of someone walking towards her. “Sorry, didn’t see you there.”
