i think from a readers perspective mine were zayne and caleb's but in terms of what was my favorite to write i think sylus and xavier's had some very interesting plot points. i had a lot of fun throughout the entire creating and writing process and i think for this being my first series it went way better than i anticipated.

i sincerely thank everyone of you who wanted to be tagged, and have read, liked, reblogged, commented like this is still all very new to me so the support the past month but especially with this has been above and beyond 🤍

hey guys! i don't know if i necessarily need to say all of this, since i feel like most of you already understand my writing style, but i'm an overthinker and i don't want anyone to misunderstand me lol. so i just wanted to clarify a few things and make sure we're all on the same page. ♡

when you send in a request, i truly do appreciate that you be as specific as possible about what you're looking for! i will always do my best to honor the scenario or idea you've given me, but in case you haven't noticed i also frequently like to take some creative liberties with it.

one thing to keep in mind is that i usually write for all 6 LIs (which i genuinely love doing!), so sometimes it can feel repetitive to me if i stick to the exact same scenario for every character. because of that, i tend to expand on the original idea rather than follow it word-for-word. i might take a particular detail from the request and run with it, explore a different angle, or have an idea branch off into something else entirely.

and just to be clear, if i take a request in a slightly different direction, it does not mean i disliked your original idea! your request is what inspired me in the first place, and sometimes i just don't know where an idea is going to take me until i start writing. my goal is always to understand what you're looking for, honor the heart of the request, and then make it my own.

as for format, sometimes a request works best as headcanons, sometimes as drabbles and sometimes i'll do a bit of both. for example, i might take one of the headcanons that came from your request and expand on it with a little drabble. it really just depends on what ideas come to me and what makes the most sense for the characters or piece of work.

i also want to gently remind everyone that this is fanfiction. i always do my best to stay lore-accurate and portray the characters as accurately as i can based on my understanding of them, and i would never intentionally disrespect the source material, a character's canon personality, or the intention behind a character or their story. at the same time, fanfiction is also about interpretation. depending on the scenario or concept, i may take things in a direction that feels right to me and explore what i think a character might do, say, or feel in that situation.

so yes, there may be times when my interpretation isn't the same as yours, or something feels a little OOC to you. that's okay! you're absolutely allowed to have your own interpretation, and you don't have to agree with everything i write. i just ask that you remember there's a real person on the other side of the screen. if something isn't your cup of tea, that's completely fine—just be kind about it.

i put a lot of thought into how i write these characters, and not every difference in characterization means i've misunderstood the source material. however, if if i've written something truly insensitive or hurtful, please do let me know. that's something i absolutely want to be made aware of and will listen to.

anyway, that's all! i just wanted to explain where i'm coming from since i know my approach to requests especially can sometimes be a little different from what people might expect. especially as i am a new writer. thank you to everyone who reads, sends in requests, and supports my writing. i really do appreciate it more than you know!

if you have a question about a specific piece i've written, a character's actions, why i interpreted something a certain way or took it in that direction, or even just want clarification on something, please feel free to ask. i know sometimes people will leave comments asking about a particular detail or wondering what i meant by something, and i'm more than happy to answer when i can.

i find it fascinating when people really get into my writing and have thoughts, theories, questions, or things they want to discuss with me. it's fun knowing that people are thinking about the things i write and engaging with them beyond just reading and moving on.

the only thing i ask is that you approach those conversations kindly and in good faith. as long as you do that then please don't feel like you have to stay quiet if you're curious about something! i may not always have a super deep explanation for every little thing lol, but i'm happy to chat about it when i can.

okay this might just be a weird peeve of mine, and one of my favorite writers on here actually mentioned this before in their rules for requesting. at the time, i didn't really understand why it would be awkward, but now i definitely see why.

if you're going to request something from multiple writers, that’s totally fine! but maybe don't request someone to do the literal exact same thing. 😭

i just came across a request being fulfilled by another writer that i am genuinely not kidding was damn near word for word identical to a request i recently received and fulfilled.

i am not going to throw names around or anything because that's literally not the point of this post. i am making an observation and adjusting my rules and boundaries to accomade that's all.

so just to be VERY clear — no shade whatsoever to the other writer. they are not at fault at all. they were just fulfilling a request that was sent to them, and we all have different interpretations, writing styles, and ways of approaching the same prompt.

i don't claim to be the most original writer in the world. with how massive this community is, there are obviously going to be repeated scenarios, tropes, concepts, etc. that's just inevitable.

i also try to be really mindful about inspiration. if i'm inspired by another writer or something i've seen, i do my best to credit them because i think that's just the respectful thing to do. i'm not saying every idea has to be 100% unique or that people can't be inspired by each other.

BUT if you want to request the same general idea from multiple writers, maybe come up with a slightly different idea or angle for each person. because this is a pretty big community, but it's also one where a lot of us follow and interact with each other.

and honestly, i think what bothered me most is that writers put actual time and effort into fulfilling requests. i know from my own experience that when someone sends me a request, i don't just throw something together and call it a day. i think about it, i try to make it fit my style, and i put time into actually creating something for that person.

so seeing what appears to be the exact same request being copy-and-pasted elsewhere does feel a little disrespectful to the time and effort that writers put into fulfilling those requests. not because i think anyone owes me exclusivity over an idea, but because it can make the interaction feel less like "i specifically wanted to see your take on this" and more like "i sent this to a bunch of people and whoever fulfills it, fulfills it."

i don't even know if it was the same anon, so i'm not trying to make assumptions about that either. but it does make me feel a little weird thinking that if it was the same person, maybe what i wrote wasn't really appreciated in the way i thought it was.

so i'm probably going to add this to my requesting rules going forward — please don't send me a request that you've copied and pasted into other authors' inboxes.

i know i have a lot of requesting rules and just in general rules. but they serve a purpose. i can be very forgiving and lenient but first and foremost i want to avoid putting myself and others in awkward or uncomfortable situations/spaces.

maybe this is just a me thing, but after seeing it happen firsthand, i finally understand why some writers have that rule.

I do remember a couple of questions I had before:

Do you have writing advice?

Do you constantly worry about writing something that is out of character or do you just go with the flow? This happens to me often and I end up quitting.

How do you deal with perfectionism?

very long responses ahead! i hope i answered your questions well. this was a nice way for me to reflect and share my thoughts so thank you for asking 🥹

1. oh boy writing advice — i am still pretty new at this myself. honestly as soon as i get even a sliver of an idea i write it down in my notes. sometimes it starts with dialogue and i build around that. sometimes its a scenario and i just sit and brainstorm/try to create an outline until i am satisfied. when i do start writing i just go for what sounds right. even if its awkward or bad its a process i am never going to be satisfied my first draft. my editing process is really where things fully come together. so i just trust my insticts if that makes sense.

if the idea isnt flowing i move onto a different one. if i come back to it later that's cool. i am a big daydreamer so that has always helped but def taking inspo from film/tv or music helps too. everyone has their own process so just finding out what works for you is a good first step.

2. i mostly go with the flow. i have been playing love and deepspace for over a year though and i hope i know their characteristics and lore well enough to potray them accurately.

the other way i feel about this though is that at the end of the day these are fictional characters and every person connects to them differently. sometimes depending on the concept of the story or scenario their characterization changes. the only thing i can do is try to stick to what i know and feel.

3. when dealing with my pesky perfectionist mind set i try to remind myself that this is a hobby for me. its supposed to be a fun way for me to pass time and connect with the community. this is a great creative outlet for me especially because for a while i really felt like my imagination and spark was dwindling for a number of reasons but mostly bcs i was afraid to be judged or really even percieved at all. i have hid and tried to live up to other people's expectations but that will never make me happy.

i think in general just not rushing and doing this how i want when i want helps so much. by the time i am done and it is published i want to be proud of myself most of all. if people end up liking it thats great but if it flops thats alright too as long as i did what i set out to do.

i was curious as i have seen other blogs do this and since i have been getting an influx of messages in my inbox lately i wanted to try this system out.

i go by snow on this blog, even though that is a fun fact, not my real name.

i haven't made any edits since last month when i went on a whole editing valko spiral. it's hard doing both editing and writing like i hyperfixate on one then neglect the other.

it kinda drives me crazy bcs i have a list in my phone of writing and editing ideas and it never stops growing. but they are both fun hobbies so that's all that matters

anyway! i am glad to see other's are interested in the idea though so maybe the next time i am back on an editing kick i will attempt it.
