why do people like you want credit for making a gif of someone else's footage? its not yours

I'm gonna ignore how rudely this ask is written and answer honestly, since I see sooo many people asking about this.

There's multiple reasons gif creators ask for credit!

IT PRESERVES THE ORIGINAL CREATOR

If a gif is posted without credit, the original source is lost. That's why I specifically ask people to link back to my original post- So that the original source of a gif is never lost in a chain of deactivated blogs. If the original source isn't accessible, the next best thing is reverse image search... Which is pretty dreadful nowadays.

I think this is the most important part!

2. GIF CREATORS DON'T JUST CLIP VIDEOS

I know personally when I create gifs from a video, I also do colour correction, adjust saturation, correct jittering, etc. It takes time! On top of that, good gif creating software that allows for these corrections aren't free! The program I use cost around $30usd.
