WT of FFXIV: Comforting Each Other
@wondroustailsofffxiv
It was after the attack on Lakeland, when the night was returning with the departure of Lord Vaulthry’s airship, and most people who could be taken to safety had been carried off. Ehn and Zel made their way back to the Crystarium in silence, one that lingered as they helped carry people to Spagyrics, and even as they made their way back to their rooms in the Pendants.
Something about this seems... off... Hey @lumei-xiv, what do you think?
My turn~! (Here, have a Zel - From Lumei-XIV)
ZEL LUMEI @lumei-xiv & SUN’LI YHUNJA have joined your party!
Starting Dungeon: “Zel? Whoa, I didn’t expect to see you here! I finally get to thank you for all those amazing treats you send me, though. You’re the best!”
+ When partied with Zel, everyone will gain a “Well Fed” buff that gives an EXP bonus.
Assisting:
“Watch your tail, Zel!” – First Assist
“Let me at ‘em! Two hands are better than one.” – Second Assist
“There we go. No need to take a hit if you don’t have to, right?” – Casting Divine Benison on Zel
Being Assisted:
“Thanks for the save! I owe you a cookie for that one.” – First Assist
“Make that two cookies! And a cake! Though, honestly, you could bake both better than me.” – Second Assist
“Nice move! But… my eyes… uh, hold on, I need a moment here… Warn a guy next time, will you?” – When Zel casts Holy
Idle Dialogue:
If the party is idle in a place with lots of flora, Sun will sit and begin to weave a flower crown. After five minutes, he will put the finished crown in Zel’s hair.
“You know, you kind of remind me of my sisters. Sorry if that’s out of left field, but… you just give off that vibe. Haha!”
“Seems like we’ll be here for a while, so let’s catch up! Have any interesting stories to share? You always seem to be caught up in the craziest things.”
Unique in-combat dialogue:
“Agh! I hate that so much. Hold on, you’ll be right as rain in just a second.” – When Zel is inflicted with Slow
“Things are getting spicy, huh? Let’s kick this up a notch!” – When enemy is pushing out high raid-wide damage
Occasionally, Sun will default to Huntspeak to warn Zel of incoming enemy attacks.
Witnessing KO:
“Oh, shit— Zel?! How did that— I’m coming to you right now, just hold on!”
Reviving:
“I swear you just shaved ten years off my life! I thought we lost you for a second. C’mon, up and at ‘em… I’ve got you.”
Being Revived:
“Ah… that’s what I get for being so reckless. Heh. Sorry for the trouble!”
Finishing Dungeon:
“Knew it would be a quick round with you on the team! If you have some spare time, how about I fix us some tea? You can finish telling me about that time you found Rascal sleeping in a breadbasket.”
Bonus! Combo Attack:
Starting VO: “Time for an old fashioned conjurer beatdown! But, uh… let’s keep it a secret from Brother E-Sumi-Yan.”
Sun will take up a defensive position in front of Zel while she begins casting Holy, keeping enemies at range with his staff. If there is downtime between strikes, Sun will pass Zel aether to supercharge her attack. When Zel finally unleashes Holy, Sun will slam his palm on the ground at the same time, pulling forth jagged spikes of earth in a modified Stone spell.
After the enemies have been cleared, Sun will blink dizzily and put a gloved hand over his face. “Whoa… And I closed my eyes for that, too. Should I bring sunglasses next time?”

They had taken a chance to lay out under the stars in Lakeland, the purple trees swaying above them and offering peeks at the sliver of moon above. It was oddly peaceful, even more so now that Ehn knew what it took to get it back. The calm after a storm, rather than before it like Il Mheg.
Zel was the first to break the silence, rolling over to point a finger at him. “Soooo,” she teased, giving his cheek a friendly poke-poke, “when did you plan on telling me about the whole ‘summoner’ thing?”
“When were you going to bring up the ‘white mage’ thing?” he asked back. He figured the ‘secret warrior of light’ thing had been dealt with enough for now.
“Don’t dodge the question, Ehn.” There was no malice in her voice, but Ehn still couldn’t tell if Zel was appalled or about to laugh. “I know they don’t teach that kind of summoning in your Arcanima courses. Especially when you’re summoning Bahamut.”
“O-okay, first off, that’s Demi Bahamut. It’s not actually Bahamut. None of my summons are actual primals; it’s more of their essences--”
“Ehn!”
“Okay okay... but...” Ehn hunched his shoulders as he hiked himself onto his elbows. “This is why I didn’t want to tell anyone,” he confessed. “People would kind of... freak out if you told them you were playing with primal essences. Even if you’re not technically summoning primals it’s--”
A hand went to his shoulder, and when he looked up he found Zel... smiling at him? She still seemed shocked, but she didn’t seem angry. Ehn hoped she really wasn’t just hiding that anger.
“Ehn... I technically deal with a type of magic that’s been forbidden from anyone other than certain Padjali. I don’t think I’m much in a place to judge... even if the elementals and A-Towa-Cant did technically choose me.” She grinned mischievously, and it only widened when Ehn’s ears started going back up. “I think it’s pretty cool actually. I knew you could do more cool stuff than just basic arcanima.”
“Thanks...” He coughed a bit, sitting the rest of the way up and sheepishly ducking his head. “... can I be honest with you on something?”
“Yeah?”
“... that was the first time I’ve ever tried summoning Demi-Bahamut.”
“Excuse me?” Zel’s eyes danced with disbelieving mirth. “You--you of all people--tried something you didn’t practice first or plan out meticulously in a fight like that?”
“Iiii may have panicked a little.” He scratched the back of his neck. “And I never really... had a reason to try it before then. At least it worked... right?”

Othard proved to be beautiful, and in between the help he and Zel were providing to the Kojin, she had suggested lunch out on the higher cliffs of the Isle of Bekko. Their shelled friends were all too happy to oblige, recommending no shortage of picked snacks and dried fish for their luncheon. Thankfully, Zel seemed to have lunch packed already.
“So with Orrin’s help, I’ve got some steamed buns,” she was saying, looking through the lunch basket and X’raehl and Ehn spread out the blanket. “I’ve also got spring rolls, fried dumplings, some rice and sauces... oh, and little finger sandwiches!”
“Orrin definitely helped with that amount of food,” Ehn murmured, to which X’raehl burst into a laugh.
“Oh hush! There’s three of us, it’s going to be a lot of food!” Still, Zel was grinning as she plunked herself onto the blanket, patting either side for the other two to join her.
“Orrin feeds small armies, Moonbeam,” X’raehl mused, reaching over for the basket. “At least we won’t go hungry.”
He rummaged through the basket to start pulling out foods, laying them out before the trio for them to start picking from. Ehn reached for one of the sandwiches, sniffing at it curiously as Zel plucked one of the steam buns up.
“Is this...?” Ehn took a bite, ears perking up at the taste “... banana?”
“Yeah!” she chirruped through full cheeks. “Pe’huh’ bu’hhr a’ banah’nah!”
“Moonbeam, your accent’s getting thick there,” X’raehl teased, giving her a grin before taking up one of the sandwiches as well. “This one’s turkey.”
“You have to have a variety! Raha taught us that.”
She paused in her chewing to find both of the men staring at her, eyes wide in surprise. “What?” she questioned, head tilting. “Do you not remember the sandwiches?”
“No... no, I remember them...” Ehn cleared his throat a bit, shaking off a thought before continuing. “I was just thinking about how he’d explode if he heard you call him that.”
