The Legend of Zelda: Eye of the Storm
The kingdom of Hyrule has not had a princess Zelda in over a century, and the role of king has been passed down from father to son for several generations. Finally, after 150 years of praying to Hylia, a princess is born to the king and his queen. The princess Zelda is a wonderful child, and seems to have been blessed by Hylia herself. But the king was not a devoted husband, and often found himself in the company of a priestess of Nayru. The priestess bears a daughter, who as a daughter of the king, must bear the name Zelda. As there are now two Zeldas who must bear the name, they are given nicknames by their mothers. The queen calls her daughter Gloria, for all of the glory that Hylia brought to Hyrule and that her daughter will bring as well, while the priestess calls her daughter Raina, as Nayru is associated with water, and her daughter would rule as wisely as the goddess.
One Triforce, one crown. Two Zeldas, blessed by two different goddesses. Both goddesses wish for their princess to win. Their worshippers choose sides. As the princesses grow older, tensions grow with them. The kingdom is on the brink of a civil war.
Link is a common-enough name in Hyrule. There are several boys and men with the name at any given time. When the goddesses and their factions start fighting, it is decided that all named Link shall be summoned to the castle and tested, so that the hero can be found and bring an end to the fighting.
Link of Kasuto is a young boy who lives in a small village with his aunt and older brother. His family has known his whole life that he would be the hero, and have always been afraid of the weight of his destiny. When the news that all named Link are being summoned to the castle, his older brother Kalphi goes in his stead. He knows that he can pretend to be the hero better than anyone else can, and he will do anything to protect his brother.
Ganondorf is a young man of Gerudo descent, whose mother left the Gerudo kingdom as a young woman to find love. He is the first son born to a Gerudo woman in centuries, and is given the only name his mother could think of. He longs to connect with his heritage, but fears that his name is prophetic, and that he will become like the powerful and power-hungry kings of legend. Even more so in this time of conflict, when another kingdom could make easy prey of the chaos-ridden Hyrule.
