Found this through a friend of mine and learned that *wow,* I have a thing for sisters. Loving the Klein's btw and the fact that their name means "small" in German is making me bawl with happiness.
Apologies if you've answered this already, but what cracked Zelda's egg?
My fic is turning people into sisterfuckers... that's so cool...
Also Melody Small???? Hello???? that wasn't even intentional but that's so cute fuck
As for Zelda - I couldn't put a complete timeline together for you, but it largely came in three parts. First, Babylon. They can never let something go once they get something in their head, and "this boy is just a little too enthusiastic to learn about feminism and the female body" was like catnip to them. Second, she saw Rocky Horror and it woke something up in her. Like me, she's not a huge fan of it in her adulthood, but like me, it played a vital part in her early transition.
It's not like a huge twist or anything, but I won't say what the third part was, yet. there'll be dialogue about it at some point, and I don't wanna be too redundant!
thank you so much for the excuse to talk about my girls!!!!
the great thing about writing trans characters is that you can really easily inform their character by coming up with a reason they chose the name they have. really helps give them dimension & history very easily
Klein Sisters chapter one has been driving me up the wall. I’m so so so excited for another chapter.
the response to this series has been nuts!!! thank u so much for your enthusiasm!!!!!!
i got kinda busy right after i posted ch 1, so i know it's been a sec, but i promise i'm working on ch 2! i do think when it goes up y'all are gonna riot tho, lol.

Inspired by @gentlelovingsiscon's Penny/Lena Saga, @sisconvention's untitled story, and @juniper-petunia's meyers sisters story, The Klein Sisters is the working title of my own erotic incest serial!
1- Melody (mutual pining; shame; kissing)
2 - Zelda (slow burn; pining; exhibitionism; age difference)
Characters
Melody - 15, the youngest; the princess of the family. Came out as trans a month before the story begins; her parents see this as a second chance and have so far been very supportive. Has had feelings for Rachel her whole life, but hasn't realized it yet.
Rachel - 18, the middle; the fiery teenage communist who picks fights. Just old enough to remember Zelda moving away, and is extremely protective of her little sister. She also fell in love with her when she realized she had a little sister, and doesn't have the self control to hide it for long.
Zelda - 26, the eldest; the prodigal daughter. Came out at 18 and her parents took it badly; they had a huge fight and she left. Coming home to mend things with her family and to write her memoir. She doesn't know she has a little sister yet.
Babylon Adonis - 26. Ex-partner and Zelda's friend from high school. A sex worker and self-described "nymphomaniac." Exactly the kind of person who would name themself "Babylon Adonis."

Melody’s heart sank. Turning off her phone screen, she leaned back in her computer chair and felt tears try and fail to fight their way out of her. She had been waiting all day for this – all month. She had pictured Zelda coming in the front door and seeing her in her peach tennis dress and denim jacket. She’d so clearly been able to see the look in her biggest sister’s eyes as she realized that neither of them were alone in the family. She’d imagined being seen, for the first time, by another trans person.
For some reason, though, realizing without warning that she’d have to wait another night – another quiet, restless night – made all of it seem pointless. She was the one who decided to not tell Zelda over the phone! She was the one who had insisted her parents and Rachel keep it quiet until summer and she could make her grand debut. Now, all of that effort felt dramatic and vain.
The sound of her door opening brought her back to the present. Turning, she saw Rachel standing in the door. There was a look in her eyes that Melody couldn’t quite place; like surprise, but… different, somehow.
“Hey, shit, Mels, are you okay?”
She must have looked awful – no point in hiding it, then. “Um. No, sorry, Rach.”
Her big sister came over and knelt next to her. “Fuck are you sorry for, kid? What’s wrong?”
“Zelda texted. She won’t be home till late, and says I should talk to her tomorrow.”
“Ah, fuck. What a shitshow, I’m so sorry.” Rachel ran a hand through her flop of livid blue hair, and Melody could see her thinking.
“No, it’s fine, I promise, you don’t-”
“Nope,” Rachel interrupted. “Too late. You don’t get to be sad this summer, remember? I promised. I’m gonna help you feel better.”
Melody laughed softly, and Rachel smiled triumphantly. “See? I’m good at my job.”
“You’re ridiculous,” Melody teased, pushing her sister away by her forehead.
“I believe the word you’re looking for is gallant, actually.” She laughed and stood, making for the door. “Come on, we’re getting ice cream.”
Smiling, Melody followed.
---
The stars were beginning to show themselves in force against the dusk’s last hazy blues as they made their way to Rachel’s car. It was a quintessential first car, complete with traditional peeling paint and milky headlights.
Rachel strode toward her car with the air of someone on a mission, and for a moment Melody thought it was just her usual confident swagger. Then she realized her sister was walking towards the passenger door, and she groaned.
Picking up her pace to catch up, she warned, “Rachel, I’ve told you a million times-”
“What? I can’t hear you!” Rachel mocked, breaking into a jog. Melody raced after her.
“Don’t you dare-”
“-too late, you’re too slow-”
“-kill you if you keep-”
But Melody was wearing a pair of flimsy shoes meant for decoration more than walking, and Rachel was in combat boots, and even almost a foot shorter than her little sister, she was faster. Before Melody could get her hands on her, she pulled open the passenger door, assuming a comical, straight-backed posture.
“My lady,” she drawled, a gleeful grin on her face.
“You’re ridiculous,” Melody repeated, rolling her eyes. “I haven’t forgotten how to open doors in the last month, Rach.”
“Of course not! But I did find out that I’ve got a baby sister. That gives me 15 years of babying you to catch up on! Besides, someone’s got to pamper you until some dashing stranger comes along to do it.”
Melody snorted ungracefully and bent to sit in the car. “Yeah, right, I’m such a catch. Any minute now, a handsome prince will come along and be enamored by my big hands and wide-”
Rachel’s thumb and forefinger were very suddenly touching Melody’s chin. Then, they were pulling it up, forcing her to meet her eyes.
“Don’t.” Her eyes looked into Melody, dim and heavy, like hot iron. “Don’t you dare talk about my little sister that way.”
Melody was stunned into silence. She had seen Rachel angry before. She saw it all the time, actually; Rachel was like flash paper, burning bright, fast, and mostly harmless. But now, she could only think of April – the second time she’d ever seen her really, truly angry.
The look was identical; heavy and still, pinning her in place. Melody was filled with fear to see it. Not fear of her sister, never that. But fear that she recognized it.
“Y-yeah. Yeah I – okay.” She didn’t move.
They stayed there for a long moment, still, Melody’s head devoid of anything but her sister’s eyes.
Then, without warning, Rachel was stomping around the front of the car and getting into the driver’s seat.
“Come on,” she called, all the intensity gone from her voice. “When we get back we’re watching a movie!”
---
The drive over was conspicuously relaxed. They made talk about little things; there was a punk show in two weeks, and Rachel needed no encouragement to go on about what bands would be there and, in her own words, which greasy motherfuckers would get their teeth kicked in if they showed their faces.
But Melody couldn’t pay attention. Her mind was stuck on her sister’s eyes and what she had seen in them. Her stomach swirled with it; dread, confusion, and something… else. Something she didn’t want to acknowledge.
A thought occurred to her – Since last summer, Rachel had been loudly insisting that she was a lesbian, adamantly disavowing any attraction to men with a fervor that she found admirable and funny in equal parts.
She could even recall seeing her during lunch periods that year sitting with an arm around a tall, pretty girl with dark hair.
At first, the thought relieved her – Rachel was only attracted to women, of course. There was no way…
Then, of course, her eyes drifted down to her own lap and she remembered the fact that she was wearing a dress.
“You really see me as a girl, don’t you?”
Rachel cut off mid sentence; Melody hadn’t realized she’d interrupted.
“Sorry! I should have-”
“Yeah, Mels, I do. I promise.”
She met her sister’s eyes. There it was again. “Would… would you tell me why?”
“Melody, I-” she swallowed before starting again. “Do you remember Zelda moving out?” She shook her head no.
“She was my age. She had come out to mom & dad the summer before her senior year, and they… well, they didn’t take it well.”
“Yeah, I know.” This was one of those stories in their family that Melody was too young to remember, so it had the sensation of ancient history, like the big bang or the Clinton administration.
Rachel nodded. “I don’t know if I told you the part where I almost broke dad’s nose.”
She said it with a straight face, but the notion was so comical, and yet so perfectly Rachel, that Melody couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“You what?”
“Yeah, right?” Rachel cackled back. “There I was, all of ten fuckin’ years old, and Zelda’s packing her things, and I’m fuckin’ pissed, cause of course she’s a girl! Once she points it out to us, I feel like an idiot for missing it, and yet I’m apparently the only one who can see it.
“So of course in all the fighting dad says some shit about, I don’t remember, ‘no child of his,’ and I climb up his pant leg and start trying to hit him in his fuckin’ face.”
Melody’s laugh redoubled. She could see it so clearly; a miniature Rachel, still with her blue hair and black denim but shrunken and child-like, clinging to their father like an emo barnacle, flailing her little fist at him.
They laughed together as Rachel pulled the car into a parking space in front of the dusty convenience store that serviced mack trucks passing into and out of town. Once they were parked and had each caught their breath, Rachel turned and put her arm over the back of Melody’s seat.
“Melody Klein, of course I see you as a girl. Not just cause you said so, but because you just… are. I mean fuck, look at you in that dress! You’re...” she paused, then looked away out the front windshield, suddenly quiet. “You’re my sister.”
It was infuriating. The elation she felt hearing that Rachel saw her as a girl should have brought tears of joy to her eyes. It was amazing, hearing that she had already decided to protect Melody before she had even been born.
But she felt her heart fall, too. The way Rachel had emphasized ‘sister’ filled her with a sense of disappointment that she had no choice but to acknowledge. What a ridiculous idea it had been, that bright, colorful, solid, gallant Rachel could feel that way about her. How disgusting, how slimy, that she could let herself want her to feel that way.
She pulled herself together. She was a degenerate freak; that wasn’t new. She would do as she had always done, and take the love that her family was generous to give her, and do what she could to not let them know she didn’t deserve it.
“Thank you, Rach. It means a lot to hear you say that, I mean it.”
“Of course, Mels. I love you,” she replied, eyes soft. “Let’s get some snack while we’re here, ‘kay? Something salty for the movie.”
Buying ice cream and snacks and returning to the car was muted tones for Melody. She kept her face on, chatting with her sister, not letting her notice the familiar self-loathing that had fallen over her.
Once they got home, they settled in Rachel’s room – her sister busied herself making Melody cozy by foisting a dozen fluffy pillows and synthetically soft blankets upon her, before she put a DVD in the player, turning the TV on and the lights off. It was The Mummy – Melody’s favorite.
“So, Mels.” Rachel began as the title credits rolled, a teasing tone in her voice. “Why do you like this movie so much?”
She looked at her sister with furrowed brows. “What do you mean?” she asked. “You know why I like it, it’s what got me into ancient history.”
Rachel tilted her head back and forth. “Yeah, but like. Why do you really like it? As Melody, I mean. There’s got to be more to it, right?”
Melody ducked her head. She was right, of course – it wasn’t a lie that seeing the film as a kid had sparked her passion for archaeology, but…
“It was Evelyn,” she admitted, embarassed.
Rachel barked a laugh. “I fucking knew it! I only just realized, but she’s got hair just like yours!” Her tone was teasing in that way that Melody knew had no teeth.
“Yeah yeah,” she said, rolling her eyes. “You got me. She was my – what did you call it? My enlightenment?
“Your gay awakening?”
“My trans awakening,” she corrected. “My gay awakening was Padme Amidala. I wanted to be Evelyn. She’s so nerdy, but she still gets noticed-”
She stopped herself short. Her stomach, only just beginning to settle, dropped again. Brendan Fraser was a brash, brave, gallant action hero who swept bookish, curly-haired Rachel Weisz into a whirlwind romance. He was reckless and proud, but protective of the people he decided mattered.
He was just like Rachel.
The tears that had sputtered out before they could fall earlier came again. She didn’t fight them; she never had. It had been three years since the last time her body had allowed her to cry, and more than anything she wished they would spill, if only for release from the pressure that squeezed at her chest.
They didn’t, of course. They stopped just short of her eyes, leaving her feeling like a shaken bottle of soda.
Rachel moved from where she sat in the bed, shuffling until she was between Melody and the TV screen. “Shit, Mels, hey.” worry shaped her face in the dim blue light.
Melody couldn’t speak. What was there to say? How could she possibly communicate it?
“Mels, I’m sorry. What did I do? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to overstep. I’m a fucking idiot, I should have realized how sensitive this must be for you.” She moved forward, wrapping her arms around Melody’s neck. The contact was stiff, Rachel evidently hesitant of how welcome it might be. “I’m so fucking sorry, Melody, please forgive me.”
That was the worst thing for her to say, of course. That her sister would blame herself for Melody’s horrible thoughts and desires made her picture herself covered in boils and puss, infecting everyone around her with a pestilence.
Pulling away, Rachel looked her in the eyes again. “Mels, please, talk to me. Tell me what I did wrong, I promise I’ll make it up to you, okay?”
“Rachel, I- I-” she stalled out. The enormity of it hit her again. All she could manage was, “I’m disgusting…”
Eyes widening, Rachel put her hand to her sister’s cheek. “No you are not, Mels. Hey, hey, let me see your eyes, okay? Melody, you are… fuck me, don’t you get it?”
Her eyes had darted downward when she spoke, fixing on a spot between them. Her heart jolted at Rachel’s command, and she was disgusted by the feeling. She obeyed anyway, not strong enough to fight the pleasure of doing as she was told.
“N-no, Rach, you don’t get it. I- there’s something w-wrong with-th me.”
This seemed to light Rachel’s fuse a little; her eyes hardened in that same protective way. “Melody Klein, you are one of the most…” she trailed off, jaw setting in frustration. “Melody, you are perfect.”
There was a delay between when Rachel’s lips met hers, and when she began to register them. She knew there had been a delay, because she tried to open her mouth to speak and was stopped short by the soft, slightly dry pressure.
The delay persisted, too, because Rachel had already pulled away and sat back when arousal burst into life inside Melody, somewhere just below her belly button.
“Sorry, Mels.” Rachel sounded so calm, so gentle, as she spoke. Then, she was out the door, and Melody could say nothing. She could only watch her go, head full of confusion and want.
