self-indulgent hc but genji definitely used to feed stray animals in his youth, despite those around him saying it’s best not to encourage them; the same with birds, and maybe even rodents. this habit is one which he carried into his later years, & continues to exhibit. this behaviour was not entirely uncommon during blackwatch, either; if he happened upon a stray creature with food in hand, he would instinctively share / offer it over. genji is charitable, but also just very fond of animals. it’s a bonus if they let him close enough to pet-
