What about married!Zephzo movie nights??? This one too!

for a little while after they first get married, they still live in an apartment just outside of Seabrook with neither Dead On nor Zita’s :/ they do find a good pizza place nearby and the meat ban was lifted years ago so they’re fine without zombie food but it still doesn’t beat Zita’s

Zephyr mostly likes action or horror movies and Al likes comedy/romcoms, and sometimes family drama when he’s Feeling That Way(tm). They’re supposed to alternate with who picks the movie but there are sometimes disagreements

Zephyr has limited Alonzo to one viewing of School Of Rock every two months

Alonzo has also insisted they watch every movie that has used a BFS song on the soundtrack. It doesn’t matter what it is. Zeph’s still mad he made him sit through Scooby Doo 2 for just one song

any romance scene is gonna prompt Al to cosy up to Zeph and Zeph to attempt to resist and inevitably fail

then they move back to Zombie Town when they start talking to Rizzo about having a baby and they can finally get some proper zombie food for movie night again

Rizzo sometimes joins in from then on cuz she comes to live with them while pregnant. She loves third-wheeling them and annoying Zephyr and getting away with it because uh wow can he not appreciate that she is going to carry a child for them??? Al totally agrees with her and tells Zeph to be nice

Zephanie is born and movie nights are put on hold for a little while, then they only have them once a month once she’s ok to be left alone for a couple hours

and then she gets to be part of movie night too and they start watching more child-friendly stuff

Zephie likes the Trolls movies. Al kinda does too. Zephyr won’t admit it, but he does actually like them. He does at least point out that Poppy and Branch reminds him of them

“you won’t watch School Of Rock with me multiple times a month but Zephie wants to watch Trolls again and you cave?” “Zephanie is three, Al”

Al inevitably infects Zephie and she grows up to love School Of Rock too. Someone please save Zephyr but he does actually like it as well

food fights are always bound to happen, spanning this entire timeframe, usually started by Al (and later Zephie) but Zephyr is dangerous once he gives in and it’s all out war

now I’m just thinking about Zephanie fast asleep nestled in between her dads as the final scenes of a movie plays and Zeph and Al are just... so happy...

Zephanie would only be a year or two old when her paka died. Three at the very oldest, I haven’t figured out exactly when they have her. He’d never get to see her grow up...!

Al probably would’ve been struggling for a while. He has an addictive personality and he’s falling right into the rock star lifestyle, it wouldn’t take much for him to turn to substance abuse... Zephyr would’ve tried so hard to help him, get him to go to rehab or something... Al, you’re gonna be a father soon...

Zephyr having to see and hear all the gossip and conspiracy theories about his husband. Zephyr being hounded by reporters etc, maybe even some of Al’s old fans, asking really upsetting and invasive questions, bringing up ridiculous theories. No, he wasn’t in the Illuminati or some cult, no, he didn’t sell his soul for fame, he overdosed...

Zephanie would never get to know her paka. Her biological father. Would Zephyr ever explain to her how she was born without Al there? Zeph is Zephanie’s biological uncle, would she question why he still raised her even though her birth mother is right there? Would she feel like she should’ve lived with Rizzo or would she accept Zeph as her dad regardless? Would she be hurt by Rizzo’s “I’m your birth mother, not your mom” take? I want to say she would accept him, Zephyr still raised her and Rizzo agreed to have her specifically so Zephyr could have a child, but the teenage angst...!

Zephyr being reluctant to tell Zephie any details about her paka’s death but she inevitably hears about it elsewhere. Then she discovers the rumours and theories too...

Would they argue???? Would they????? Ly they’re your characters

Omg why did I just think of Clannad why...?! In the anime Clannad, after the main couple have a child, the mother dies in childbirth and her husband is so torn up about it, he asks his in-laws to raise her instead and has barely any involvement in her upbringing until she’s five years old and the in-laws basically set him up to have to take care of her and they finally bond. Zephyr giving up Zephanie to someone - Hazel, Rizzo, whoever - because he’s so distraught at losing Al that he can’t even be around his child until years later and he’s missed out on everything...!

🖊🖊🖊 and your ocs of choice!

I’m gonna take this opportunity to talk about some of the BG family members instead of BGZ themselves, cuz I don’t get to talk about them so much *^*

1. Zaniel Grievanson - Topaz’s little brother Zanny is just that one super pure and naïve little boy who just believes whatever you tell him and his sister takes full advantage of that ...until she starts to feel guilty for tricking him because he has The Best puppy dog eyes ok

2. Zia Nao - Zane’s mum Being the co-owner of the cauli-brains stand, Zia meets a lot of people and most likely knows every single zombie in Zombie Town quite well. And she chats to them all so she pretty much knows all the gossip, too. Zane gets his friendly and welcoming nature from her

3. ZEPHANIE. FREAKING. STYX. - ALONZO AND ZEPHYR’S (FUTURE) DAUGHTER I LOVE ZEPHANIE OK. But tbh, beyond what I included in her introduction post, I don’t have any other specific things about her, and I haven’t gotten any actual questions or prompts about her, so idk what do say about her. She has joined her dads in the angst realm tho, but not in any sort of canon. Just the random little storylines that pop into my head as I’m going to sleep. I keep thinking of different ways in which she could meet Al’s dad, for example. None of which go well, of course...

I just realised, as much as he seems like a disaster bi, Al is actually a functional bi. I mean, he literally helped his mum raise a child when he was still a child himself. He can cook and clean and stuff because he grew up having to help Hazel with everything. He gets his first job when he’s 16 and keeps that job until he goes to college, and after graduating and returning to his hometown, he gets that job back again

Meanwhile, the actual disaster bi Zephyr is still tackling his sister to the ground to rip her foot off and only bringing it back cuz he saw a spider in his room and needs her to get rid of it for him at 17 years old. He has no idea what he wants to do with his life and just follows his boyfriend’s lead in where he ends up working

Zephyr might know how to English but at least Al can work a dishwasher

... oh god these two are gonna have a child together what sort of life have I set up for Zephanie...

Some Christmas-themed future Styx family angst I’ve been thinking about lately:

Alonzo grew up pretty much not being allowed to believe in Santa because his dad insisted it was nonsense and it was pointless to think any human would come visit zombies with gifts for them

When Zephanie is old enough to understand the stories, Alonzo has no idea what to tell her and has no experience of his own to share so he just kind of sits back and watches and listens as Zephyr tells her about Santa. He feels so detached from it and whenever Zephie mentions Santa he just goes quiet or tries to change the subject or hope that Zephyr can take over. Zephie doesn’t understand why her paka never talks about Santa with her. Not until she’s older and eventually learns about his childhood...

With the way her fathers are, especially Alonzo, it’s no surprise that Zephanie practically lives off of music. Silence makes her uneasy and restless so if she can’t actually listen to music for an extended period of time, she’ll start singing or humming to herself. She gets scolded often in school for making noise and distracting other kids but it’s never too disruptive. She just always has a song in her head
