Hercules Moths (except a much smaller version) embroidered iron-on patches available now Females of the Hercules Moth have a wingspan of up to 27cm and the largest wing area of any moth in the world. Males (like these ones here) have hindwings that stretch out into long tails. They are found in New Guinea and tropical Queensland, and the wildest part is that they do not have mouths to feed as adults, but live instead on food stores from when it was a caterpillar, and they only live for 10 to 14 days, within which time their sole purpose is to find a mate and reproduce. If you fancy getting one of these limited edition iron-on patches, they are available now on my Etsy store (link in bio). Postage is free to anywhere in Australia. #moth #herculesmoth #entomology #insectsofinstagram #zephyrson #zephyrsonthreads #embroidery #embroideredpatch #slowfashion #mending #sewing #irishembroidery #freehandmachineembroidery #ecofashion #uniquegifts #handmade (at Mothman Adventures) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVY8GnHBV-q/?utm_medium=tumblr
