So I am a poc who has directly experienced racism. What does my opinion mean to you now? I can totally see you not fitting a job description and that's easy to change for you. Yes we should blame the system but how do you think a poc feels like when they are being oppressed by someone who has appropriated their culture. Dreaded hair or any other way? You will never experience discrimination because of some natural biological aspect of you. There's no comparison to what you have experienced.

Yeah I can change myself to fit a job description, but should I have to? I know it isn't racial oppression and on the same level but it IS oppression. We live in a society that required you to fit a mold and if you don't fit that mold your have your freedom oppressed to some level. Dreadlocks ARE NOT CULTURAL APPROPRIATION, there are animals who's hair dreads naturally. It is a natural occurrence with hair. Are you a black person of color that has directly experienced racism because if white people dreading their hair? If white people didn't have dreads it wouldn't be any different because black people would still face oppression. Telling white people to stop dreading their hair and arguing about it isn't going to change anything about the system or what people think. Everyone will stay oppressed, we will continue arguing and be separated. If we worked together and rallied against those systems instead of arguing against oppression we can all be happy instead of creating more hurt. I realize that I will not experience the same oppression but you cannot deny that we are all experiencing oppression on some level or another. It all goes hand in hand my pain and your pain even though it is of a different nature and degree.

Blacks dread their hair because it's easy to maintain their tight curly hair. Have you ever been told that you could have a job if you changed your hair? There are advertisements that tell black ppl to change their hair (straighten it) to get a job. It's their struggle. They are being told their natural biology is wrong. Whites always find excuses for this. Saying everyone's hair knots is the oldest one in the book.

Yes I actually have been told that I can have a job if I changed my hair and appearance. I think it is the people who makes the rules fault, not ours. I am not the boss who says they cannot look how they naturally look nor is it my fault that they have that oppressive opinion in the first place. There is something wrong with the system, not the people who decided to do something with their hair. The people who have knotted hair aren’t the ones with close minded opinions telling everyone else how to live their life. If white people didn’t have dreads do you really think it would be any different? I don’t think so. I am told I can’t have a job because I have dreads too, you have to look a certain way to get a job and fit in this society no matter what race you are. Blacks are just stigmatized more when it comes to this because of the racism in this country. Direct your anger at the system, do not think the answer is to direct your rage at people who just want to live their lives freely as much as you do.

Again if you aren't a POC speaking to me from direct exprience DO NOT come in my askbox and give your opinion. It's always white people trying to tell me about black lives...
