zhi hua was the future ruler of one of five regions in her family's kingdom. but, it's a responsibility she didn't want. often, she would find ways to get away from her studies, only wishing to tend to her vast garden or spend time by the sea. this is where she meets akai.
at the time zhi hua meets akai, she's about seven years old. they become fast friends and they often talk about sailing out to sea. but, because of zhi hua's position as a princess, akai's older brother forbids him from giving into her wishes as it would anger her parents.
however, when akai's brother dies and the crimson reaper pirates are born, his first decision is to ask zhi hua to be his first mate to which she readily accepts. she is seventeen
zhi hua isn't the name she's born with, rather one she's chosen. her former name is one she will never use again.
although zhi hua is estranged from most of her family, she has a messenger bird she uses to send letters / receive letters to and from her younger twin sisters.
