Life with Tamaki as the president of the Host Club never failed to induce the utmost stress ( Kyoya referred to it as remaining on his toes, yet there were times when sudden desired adjustments or alterations cropped up which sent his temples throbbing ). Now was one such time. While the Ouran Festival was a gathering in which various clubs displayed their tenacity and aptitude for particular pursuits, Tamaki had deemed an unexacting ‘ day in the host club ’ as too humble. Instead, the suggestion had been produced to showcase a few of the more exceptional talents their members offered during special events. He had readily agreed to the proposal, as they had, at the time, a suitable number of days to prepare. What he had not prepared, however, on the day of the festivities as girls flocked to their embellished tent, was for Tamaki to request they share a dance demonstration for those in attendance. It was a risky notion, as they couldn’t be certain if any of the young ladies nearby at the moment were versed in the particular moves their leader hoped to show, nor if they would merely swoon from the close proximity to the host club. Even so, Tamaki was insistent.
Now, as Kyoya attempted to remain subdued despite the rising irritation within his chest, he weighed his options. Calling someone in was possible, but who? And how long might it take them to arrive? Would it even be proper to import outside help for a school festival? He pinched the bridge of his nose and released a hard exhale. Haruhi remained trapped in the guise of a male, thus leaving her unavailable; he was dubious as to whether she had bothered to learn any fancy footwork for the female part on her own time, as it was. When Kyoya lifted his gaze, it suddenly landed upon the last person he would have anticipated, yet someone who could aid them all the same. “Miss Chase!” A smile adorning his visage, he was swift to close the distance between them. “My apologies, but could I have a minute of your time?” If she was otherwise engaged, he would be at a loss — ah, how he loathed when he was required to rely on others, yet it couldn’t be helped.
“I know this is sudden, but is there any way I might interest you in lending me your expertise in the host club’s dance demonstration? You’re certainly one of the best dancers I know, and I have no doubt that you’d do an excellent job. I promise to thank you properly afterwards.”
