I had to visualize how my dumb brain processed these events...

Amidst 4000 years of continuous war, a lone Icyene named Konstantina rescues civilians caught in the fighting and escorts them to safety. On one mission, she meets someone who apparently, somehow, can finally restore peace to the world - and pledges to protect him against all the warring gods who want him dead.
THE GOD WARS, a new @runescape Lore Documentary series. Inspired by the Netflix original series The Rain, LOST, and The Mandalorian.
Zilyana!
Chissmas drabbles 3/?
featuring Zilyana and @kaosstar’s Aleksei
prompt: on the hunt
***
“We're getting close,” Zilyana grinned. Nothing like the thrill of the hunt and the anticipation of the kill to get her blood pumping and her heart racing.
“I feel it too.” Aleksei sidestepped an overgrown hole in the ground and stopped for a moment to focus and stretch out with the force. He was just as eager as she was to get to their prey. “This way.”
Zilyana followed her partner through the ruins of the ancient city. Whatever the traitor had been looking for here in this maze of ruined streets and crumbled temples, it wasn't going to save her. There was no way she could escape them, not after her ship had been shot down two days ago.
hey climbed over fallen beams and followed the trail of an artificial water channel, dried up for centuries. When they came to what must have once been the entrance of a sewer, Aleksei stopped again to scan their surroundings.
“Wait!” he held out his hand and Zilyna stopped in her tracks. They trusted each other implicitly, and if he told her to wait that was exactly what she was going to do, no matter how much she wanted to go on.
“What is it?” she growled impatiently, tightening her grip on her lightsaber. The traitor was so close, it was frustrating to feel her slipping away with every moment they tarried.
“There's something coming. Something big.”
Zilyana could feel it too now. The ground was shaking with the approach of some huge beast. The sound it made chilled her blood, but the smell of it was even worse. She wrinkled her nose, wishing she wore her battle mask.
The beast shrieked and bared several rows of sharp teeth, but it didn't attack yet. It was watching them from the shadows, reluctant to come out into the last light of the day. The smell of it was suffocating now that it was close...
“Why is it not attacking?” Zilyana already knew the answer as soon as she said the words.
She scowled, anger spreading in her chest. This must be the traitor's work. There was no way they would catch her in time now, not today, not before nightfall would shroud this whole city in darkness and the planets more dangerous wildlife would come out to hunt...
A familiar hand squeezed her shoulder. “Tomorrow.”
Zilyana took a deep breath. He was right. What was one more day after a hunt that had lasted for many months. “Tomorrow,” she agreed, igniting her lightsaber. At least there was something to kill today, a big enough target for her growing anger.
She felt the grin coming back to her lips as she launched herself at the beast, and even though she couldn't see Aleksei's face, she knew that he was smirking too.
