it’s the third night in a row that she’s woken up like this, her surroundings foreign and her senses on high alert. the last two nights, she had just been able to open her eyes and look around. she could last long enough to know that she had no idea where she was, but then white faded grey faded black and she was asleep again.

He was of the heavens, he knew, and they knew too. The others weren’t Of God, they only desired to be, and that was rarely enough. Castiel was born of God, was seeded into the mother by angelic force.

au (au??? canon . canon. tell me it’s not.) where anna is the angel assigned to mary and she hears about the cupid being sent for, the one that is to destine john and mary as heaven-assigned-soulmates.  they weren’t supposed to need a cupid, this was supposed to work regardless but mary just.  isn’t giving in and heaven thinks its because of anna.  so, cupid. 

anna cant let anyone else do it.  she just cant. and so they give her a single arrow.  and so next time mary calls for her she comes with her new god-gift and lays with mary one last time.  holds her afterward and tells her she has to do this, explains it all, the whole plan, and then lays a hand on mary and erases the memory of it all.  shoots her with love for john, injects it in her very being and it’s like they never had any connection at all. 

and years later, when heaven’s plan plays out and mary burns on the ceiling, when anna cuts her grace out, part of her hopes that maybe she’ll be human enough to find a memory of mary in her own heaven. a manufactured, false memory, but all she is allowed to have. and she’s not even given that.

it’s about forgiveness and penitence and seeking Wholeness and it’s about sin and faith and finding out that your godly purpose was to be right here, right here in hell with a scalpel in your hand!!!! it’s about confession and wanting and desire. and it’s about the blood of the sinner and the blood of christ and it’s about all of that and none of it because nothing matters :)
