“Re-reading Coriolanus”
Goddamn Tom Hiddleston for making him a slightly sympathetic character! *shakes fist in the air*
Well to be honest in that production he was really the only character I was interested in, other than his poor wife!
Thanks so much for following Jumping! I try to keep it positive over there but I can also recommend a few autism blogs also worth following if you aren't already doing so.
I follow a ton (like my dash is all autism, star trek and steven universe lol) but I’d love to know what you would recommend in case i missed them!
Autistic flirting: I'm having a hard time looking you in the eye because you're so pretty.
zoastertoaster replied to your post:#3 and #4 for the shipping meme
I know it’s not historically accurate, but Ginny needs to love herself like whoa.
RIGHT?
Like I didn't like the ship to begin with but the second that Bill was like "lol yeah fucking me is a condition of you keeping your job", I was like, FUCK EVERYTHIIIIIIIIING.
I don't watch Da Vinci's Demons, but wasn't he celibate because he was super religious and didn't want to act on his attraction to men? At least, that's what I remember from my Renaissance history courses.
He doesn’t seem to have been very interested in sex, for whatever reason, but it wasn’t because he was super religious, no. You might be thinking of another contemporary painter? Da Vinci was really all about doing whatever he wanted to do regardless of what traditional religious morality said - he was hauled up before the Pope for dissecting bodies for instance. There’s overwhelming evidence Leonardo was attracted to men, regardless of whether he slept with them or not, and he was arrested for sodomy once (he may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, the wrong place being a brothel). Obviously dissection is a bit different from attitudes to one’s own sexuality but he seems to have been in line with common Florantine attitudes at the time, which was the Greek idea of older men being attracted to and mentoring younger ones being accepted as a normal thing. As long as you were quiet about it and didn’t piss off the religious hypocrites making the laws.
[Yes, I am going to link to the penis angel now because when don’t I take that opportunity.]
In Da Vinci’s Demons he’s attracted to men and women (and there’s a whole episode about the sodomy trial which in canon is an entirely accurate accusation), but people keep posting in the tag that the show makes him straight. I can only presume that it’s some misguided reaction to do with this by people who have never watched the show (Goyer used to be the exec producer of Demons and is now producing Constantine) given that the show is very clear that both Leonardo and at least two other characters are queer. Within the first episode in two cases.
It’s really getting on my tits, seeing as I would seriously not be watching a show in which Leonardo Da Vinci was straight.

By all historical accounts, Richard I *was* kinda a dick. */majored in medieval European history*
Yeah. That's what I'm gathering. Weir is pretty good about citing her sources and quoting from them and then in the notes discussing the reliability of them.
And yeah... Richard seems to have been a dick.
DISNEY LIED TO ME.
1. A movie you’ve seen most times in cinema. As I recall, I saw Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Inception three times each.
4. Favorite movie soundtrack. American Graffiti
8. A movie that reminds you of your mom. Rush Hour 2. She always watches it whenever it's on TV and she always loses it during that chicken scene.
12. Top 5 favorite female performances. Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany's. Marilyn Monroe as Sugar Kane in Some Like It Hot. Elizabeth Taylor as Maggie the Cat in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. Vivien Leigh as Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire. Meryl Streep in every movie.
26. Favorite movie characters. THE TERMINATOR. lol, this is a hard one, so I'll just do two from 2014 - Captain America/Steve Rogers and Gwen Stacy (comic book characters count!)
57. Movies you know you should watch, but can’t bring yourself to do it? Anything by Quentin Tarantino. I'm squeamish. (asked by zoastertoaster)
