It had been a while since Alex had truly relaxed. The last few years had been hectic to say the least. Between the personal and professional, Alex was grateful for these scheduled monthly hang outs; they allowed him some time to breathe and just be. “Mira has been begging for a p-e-t,” he said as he reached out to grab the television remote from the small coffee table that was positioned beside the couch. He’d spelled the word out as if the small child wasn’t just out of earshot and old enough to know what the letters spelled.
She was growing faster than he could keep up with and the idea of it was a constant source of stress. “Any preferences on what we should watch tonight,” Alex asked as he grabbed a bag of pretzels he’d bought earlier in the day specifically for movie night. He hated the selection process. There were too many options and he always spent more time debating what to watch than actually watching anything. “Honestly, you can pick anything you’d like. Mira was up earlier than usual and I expect she’ll fall asleep within the hour.”
