Old Zombie Movies

If you’re waiting for the zombie apocalypse, don’t read this one.

Honestly, in old horror movies, depicting zombies had to do with dead bodies crawling out of their graves and attacking the nearest person.

But, think about it. That makes no sense. 

In order for those dead bodies to even move, their nerves would have to be active. And, even if those nerves were active, there’s more to it. In order for those nerves to actually do anything, the brain would have to be active as well. Which would mean that the heart and lungs would have to be active too. 

Even if there was a virus capable of completely re-animating a dead person, as well as replacing the blood that was drained from them in preparation for the funeral, how would it reach the dead bodies six feet under? Whatever muscles that are still on the bone would never be strong enough to push through packed dirt!

Another thing!

It makes no sense that a zombie’s bite would transfer the virus! It’s implied that the virus exists in the saliva, and, when you’re bitten, the saliva goes into the wound and infects the blood stream.

But an old dead body would be completely incapable of producing saliva.

So the only way for that virus to work, at all, would be if someone died recently and hadn’t yet made their way to a morgue.

God, that’s a thought in and of itself.

I’ll go away now.

Walked by the Midway and saw the fire department was there again. The building has been condemned for several months, and maybe they are now complying with fire codes and such. I know they’re trying to put rental units in there. I walked by on my way to get oranges and mushy bananas and cottage cheese, and for some reason I have been considering beans a treat when I am here at the apartment.

Anyone notice a zombie inconsistency in the last Walking Dead?

SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST EPISODE.

The walker that Rick kills at the end of the episode, just before the phone rings, was confirmed as having eaten Lori's body. Her entire body. No limbs, no bones left behind, all gone.

However, my boyfriend pointed out that that didn't seem likely. Remember Bicycle Girl from the Torn Apart webisodes? (For those who haven't seen Torn Apart, it was a six episode short companion to the Walking Dead that showed the perspective of what happened to Hannah, the first walker that Rick ever saw in episode 1, the woman who was nothing but a torso left.) If you saw Torn Apart, you know that Hannah sacrifices herself to a crowd of zombies to give her children time to escape. An entire crowd of zombies surrounds and kills her yet they leave her head and torso to rot and eventually turn. Yet, one walker was able to consume an entire adult female's body?

Anyone else find that inconsistent?
