former federation (especially for Flint aka the promising young Lieutenant McGraw of Starfleet course), but now splinter group or outcasts because they don’t agree with Starfleet’s (insert shitty thing Starfleet has done, for example, ‘war against Klingons’), or they want a better life/excitement, some of them are just criminals (murder might feature prominently for some (justified, or not))

Man that is a completely different ball game. That is Medivh, Lothar and Llane growing up together and sharing all their free time. Even as they grow older and Llane has to spend more time learning how to be a ruler and Medivh gets really into his magic books, they still take time to come play-fight Lothar in Elwynn Forest. They take down their first Boar together. They share their first Flask of Port on the bridge between Old Town and the Dwarven District, the sweet burn of it making Lothar’s head spin.

They share the first seeds of their sexual awakening, clumsy fumbling and tentative strokes, tipsy on mead and reckless adolescence. Llane made them swear never to speak of it again, but Lothar could not let it go. He kept pulling both of his friends back, Medivh willingly and Llane grudgingly, but he knew they both wanted him. He had grown into a charismatic youth, not as pretty as Llane and not as well-spoken as Medivh, but he was magnetic and he knew how to abuse it.

Lothar was not surprised when Llane had started courting his sister. Hurt, but not surprised.

“She isn't me.” Lothar had said, fists clenched.

“No one will ever be.” Llane had answered and that had been the only words on the subject.

Medivh and Lothar would still hook up sometimes, but then the Mage falls into a coma and Lothar understands for the first time what it means to be helpless. He spends every waken moment after that training to be the best warrior there ever was, to take his mind of the pain he feels and to make sure he will never feel helpless again.

Sometimes when he's leaving Stormwind Keep after speaking to the king he finds himself lingering on the bridge between Old Town and the Dwarven District. Sometimes he can still taste the bittersweet Port they had shared.
