          FEATURES   REMAIN   UNFAZED .     stranger   things   have   come   over   nathaniel’s   lips   before   and   although   this   isn’t   your   usual   type   of   strange ,   declan   can   merely   turn   his   head   to   look   at   him   in   curiosity .   those   thoughts   come   and   go   however   they   please ,   he   has   noticed   soon   enough ,   but   they   never   fail   to   be   of   interesting   nature .       ❝   that   seems   like   a   SCARY   thing   to   me .   ❞     quietly   mused ,   lips   pursed   as   the   idea   starts   to     blossom   within   his   head               not   exactly   something   he   enjoys .   the   morbid   aspect   of   life   a   far   more   likely   stream   of   consciousness   for   him ,   though   it   may   seem   surprising .   declan   can’t   possibly   imagine   to   live   for   such   a   long   time ;   sometimes   the   next   month   appears   impossible   enough .      ❝   it   would   be   quite   lonely,   sad   even .   you   see   all   those   you   love   go ,   and   all   that   remains   is   a   horde   of   people ,   media   oriented   selfish   people ,   thirsting   to   get   a   hold   of   you   for   the   first   place   in   line   of   a   big   story .   i’m   assuming   scientists   as   well …   poking   and   prodding   to   find   an    answer ,   a   way   to   make   it     THE   NEW   NORMAL     for   everyone   until   you   finally   go   yourself .   ❞     an   absentminded   wave   before   his   head   goes   to   rest   on   his   hand .   so   much   for   a   non-upsetting   and   casual   conversation   in   the   university   cafeteria .

𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐝 ,  𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐝  𝐚𝐢𝐫 .    wave of chills washing over tall figure ,    fingers curling around another    &    lips parting to form nothing but everlasting silence .     you  can’t  speak ,      thought sadly to himself with expecting eyes resting upon him ;    awaiting a verdict he was not prepared to give .     you need to talk ,    but you can never find the right words .     what a shame it is to feel so low ,    the world spinning just a little too fast for meek grip to keep holding on .     BROKEN  NECK     &     SPINELESS  BACK .      whatever reason it was that made her wonder whether you like her or not ,    don’t take it for granted .     and he doesn’t ,     clearing his throat awkwardly    &    scratching his jaw whilst gaze falls to the ground .   

❝     you’re nice .     i’m not just saying that    &    it’s not like  …     like i i’m trying to half-arse this answer .     but      you’re  genuinely  nice ,     one of the nicest people i’ve met .      plus ,    you’re never losing your patience with me or pluto        ———–      that alone makes you        an  amazing  person .     you’re funny too ,    and interesting .     a little weird maybe ,    but not as weird as me .    ❞        he grins at the statement ,     cautiously blinking up behind lashes to     catch   a   glimpse     of hailey’s own expression .     it feels right to say these things ,      not hiding in the dark about     HOW    OR    WHAT     he might think    &    feel .     ❝     i guess i like you   !     ❞

          A   LONG,   DRAMATIC   SIGH .     the   disappointment   is   tangible   in   the   air ,   resignation   present   within   every   breath   that   is   inhaled   and   exhaled .   nathaniel   is   suspicious ;   of   course   he   is .   never   would   he   trust   devon   to   do   anything   but   horrible ,   embarrassing   or   annoying   things .   he   is   a   hopeless   case   in   the   eyes   of   the   ever   well-mannered   and   serious   psychology   student .     a   menace,   if   you   will .     truthfully ,   it   hurts .   the   lack   of   faith ,   the   distrust ,   the   hostility .   another   sigh   comes   past   his   lips ,   impossible   to   overhear .         ❝   nathaniel .   nathan .   nate .   nat-nat .   ❞     he   knows   it’s   NEL ,   knows   it’s   the   only   nickname   declan   ever   calls   him               he   simply   chooses   not   to   acknowledge   it .      ❝   where   on   earth   is   your   trust   in   me ,   buddy ?   i   thought   we   had   a   connection .   there   was …   a   spark   between   the   two   of   us .   i   could   feel   it !   apparently   that   was   only   me ,   though .   what   a   shame .   it’s   not   one   of   my   nudes ,   you   know ,   don’t   worry .   could   you   imagine   if   i   did   that ?   declan   would   rip   my   head   off   and   toss   it   into   the   thames .   i   would   have   to   be   delirious   to   try   and   cross   him   like   this .   ❞     heartfelt   laughter   echoes ,   then   he   hangs   up .   good   luck   finding   out   what   the   picture   is ,   nathaniel .
